1. What is included in material management (scope)?

Ans: The common material management challenges include

 Engineering requisition issues

 Purchase order revisions and inaccuracies
 Shipping and receiving errors causing
 Inaccurate material inventory counts.
 Engineering requisition issues : In this challenge the issues regarding to the placing
of plant and the disorders taken place in the plant are taken care through proper
specification so that the production process is not hampered.
 Purchase order requisition : purchase order requisition takes care of the order
placed and their counting of the order is being done.
 Shipping and receiving errors causing inaccurate inventory levels : while the
shipping takes place there is mistake of less counting taking while receiving the
product and hence causing the inaccuracy of the inventory levels.
 Inaccurate material inventory counts : Inaccuracy of material inventory counts take
place which hampers the inventory levels and thus hamper the production processes
further.

2. Describe the flow of material management?

Ans. The flow of material management process typically includes the receiving and inspection
of raw materials before they go through manufacturing process run to assemble into finished
goods. Analysing material management operation from a detailed ad activity level perspective
not only benefit the material management function but can also help with more effective
collaboration with the procurement and manufacturing functions that work closely with
material management.

The term procurement is defined as the acquisition of good and services and payment of an
accepted price for them. These includes continuous supply of materials, standard quality,
maintenance of proper records etc. Inspection includes items ordered from the supplier should
be received at common area. Receiving clerk should detect mistakes,if any ,of the vendor the
supplier and or the purchasing departments. And also the proper storage ensures that fill the
issue for the usage,the suppliers are adequately preserved to prevent loss or damages.
