Introduction

1 Introduction

This document describes how to unlock boards or units using the RBS
Element Manager (EM) or the maintenance button.

Danger!

Electric shock risk. If the antenna port is configured to supply DC power for a TMA,
TMF, or RET unit and the maintenance button is pushed, DC power is still being
supplied on the antenna port.

1.1 Conditions
Before starting the procedure to unlock a board or a unit, ensure that the
following conditions are met:

• If it concerns an RBS with multistandard configurations, inform all OMCs

concerned that work is about to start. More information about
multistandard configurations can be found in RBS Description.

• Access to the site is secured, if on-site activities are required.

• Access to the RBS EM is established.

(1)
AIR AuxPlugInUnit and RET
RET AntennaNearUnit
Baseband R AuxPlugInUnit
XMU 02 AuxPlugInUnit
Radio Dot (RD) AuxPlugInUnit
Support System Units HwUnit
(1) When unlocking radio units in an AIR unit, all radio units are unlocked at the same time. This
unlocking affects the other standard if DUs of different standards are connected to the same
AIR unit.

Steps

To unlock a board or unit, perform the following steps:

1. Identify the instance of the Managed Object (MO) for the relevant board or
unit. Table 1 shows the MOs.

2. Set the administrativeState attribute for the instance of the MO to 1

= UNLOCKED.

3. Verify that the status of the administrativeState attribute is now

UNLOCKED.

4. Verify that the status of the operationalState is 1 = ENABLED.

If the board is disabled, investigate the reason for this by examining the
availabilityStatus attribute.

Procedure

Note: It might take longer than usual before the operationalState

becomes ENABLED after Step 4 .

2.2 Using the Maintenance Button

Note: Not all units have full functionality maintenance buttons. The units
might have to be unlocked using the RBS EM described in Using the
RBS EM on page 2.

Information on using the maintenance button is found in Indicators, Buttons,

and Switches.
