Imagine you are a doctor and you need to give suggestion to a patient. Make sure you use
IF and WHEN clauses. Read the following situations and give short pieces of advices.

First case:

I am not feeling well. I suffer from intermittent headaches and I have a

sore -throat. I don´t know what to do. Can you give a suggestion?

First, we will check your throat for signs of inflammation, then we will send you analgesia
to manage the symptoms. Chances are it's tonsillitis. If so, you should be fine in about 5
days. Remember to rest and drink plenty of water.
Seconds Case:

I am so stressed! I can´t stand the pressure in my job! This makes me

feel sick and anxious. I am gaining weight. What can I do to cope with
stress and lose weight? Any suggestions?
The first thing would be to look at new strategies or changes in your life to manage
anxiety. A new hobby or a new activity. Exercise is a very helpful strategy. A few
appointments with psychology would be very helpful to understand what generates stress
and control it, in addition to psychotherapy is very useful. If this does not work, the ideal
would be to manage with psychiatry, and perhaps drugs, but this is not the first option.
Regarding weight gain, it should be solved when anxiety decreases, as you should know,
anxiety generates a feeling of hunger, and eating calms that anxiety. In addition, physical
activity is super good for weight control.
Third Case:

My mother is feeling blue. She has fever and a terrible cold. She has
stayed on bed for more than a week. Any suggestion?

The duration of the picture is atypical, since a common cold should not last as long. We
must monitor for signs of respiratory distress or neurological disturbances, which can tell
us of a greater commitment. Microbiological cultures and chest X-rays can guide the
diagnosis. Until the cause of the disease is not known, antibiotic-directed management
cannot be given, so currently only symptomatic management with NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs) is recommended.
