New York City Trip

By Chloe Jones Nunitus Editor
On December 8th, the NJJCL took a trip to
New York City. Members from Clearview
Regional HS, Pennsauken HS, Bayonne HS,
and Cherry Hill West HS attended this day
filled with lots of fun. We visited the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, where we saw
amazing works of art, with a focus on
Roman culture and creations. After visiting
the Met, the group went to Times Square
where we ate at Bubba Gump’s. The food
was very good and we played fun trivia
games about the movie Forrest Gump.
After dinner, we were allowed to walk
around Times Square for a bit before the
Broadway show. Student recreating a statue

poster of the beautiful lights of the city. Then, we walked to
the the Broadway theater to see Percy Jackson: The
musical Lightning Thief the Musical. We got to sit in the
"The front couple rows and even got toilet paper
Lighting sprayed at us. The trip was so much fun and
Theif"
brought us new experiences that we might’ve not
got to experience. If there is another trip, I would
definitely go again, and I know others agree!

Venus de Volleyball
By Madison Messenger Nuntius Editor
Venus de Volleyball took place on November 4th this year at Gateway
Regional High School. Members from Clearview HS, Gateway HS, and
Pennsauken HS all took part in the event. Each school had a blast
participating in rounds of intense volleyball and other small games. In
the end, Pennsauken took home the 1st place title, but each team
brought great skills on the court.
"The bidding got very intense
between each school, and at one
point reached $50."
Before the games, however, each school participated in an auction for
different unknown prizes. The bidding got very intense between each
school, and at one point reached $50. From my personal experience,
this event helped me connect with people from other schools, and
connect more with the people on my volleyball team. I had a great
time and can't wait for next year!

"As Consuls of the Bayonne High School New Jersey Junior Classical League chapter, we
are excited to report the success of the Regional Basketball Bacchanalia event. We had
invited other chapters to this event and the NJJCL Benjamin Franklin High School
chapter gratefully accepted. After the formal business was conducted, the festivities
began. At the event, we had several rounds of five-on-five basketball matches between
Franklin and Bayonne. After a team would score 5 baskets, the players on each team
would switch with those watching from the stands (so that everyone could participate).
The schools attending were also able to practice spirit cheers for convention, in a way,
cheering on their fellow basketball gladiators instead. The positive energy from both
schools roared over the sound of the game, showing the purple and gold colors of JCL
pride! We have to report, heavy heartedly, that Bayonne was blown out of the water by
Franklin in every match that night.  We would like to give thanks to everyone in
attendance and congratulate Franklin on their superb skills and good sportsmanship. It
was quite a competitive but friendly night, and we couldn’t have been more pleased."

"The game was a lot of fun! Though it started out as Franklin
versus Bayonne it developed into a good time with all of the
students. I scored my first three-pointer! I can't wait to come out
again next year."
