Management

The term, “Management” is the process of cooperating with organization

members to achieve the objective goals of the organization. At the heart of any
successful organization, we can find good managers who make important decisions
every day.
Managerial levels are classified into three groups: First-line managers, Middle
managers and Top managers. However, every manager allocates resources human,
financial, physical and informational using the functions of planning, organizing,
leading and controlling.
Performing these function in the most efficient and effective manner leads to
achieving the organizational goals.
After all, correctly applied management skills helps the organization to reach
its highest potential. That’s why management plays an important role in an
organization.

Leadership
“Leadership” means helping and motivating the followers to perform well in
order to achieve their goals. The early leadership styles focused on controlling
workers. There was an assumption that people inherently resisted work and needed
to be forced to do a good job. However, this leadership style still exists nowadays
because leadership styles also depend on the abilities of the followers.
There are three types of leadership styles – autocratic leadership, democratic
leadership and the laissez-faire.
Autocratic leadership
This leadership style is still used in some factories and industries. In this style
of leadership, the leaders have to make decisions and give precise orders to
employee.
Democratic leadership
In this leadership, although the followers have the chance to consult with the
team, the democratic leader still controls the whole team and make decisions.

The Laissez-Faire Managers

This leadership style can be found in organization whose employees are
highly motivated and well-qualified. In this leadership style, the only thing the
leaders have to do is to set the tasks because the followers have the ability to
perform them.
To sum up, it is important for the organization to have a good leader. In
addition, today’s leaders are stepping away from the- reward- and –punishment and
trapping into motivating and encouraging way to create a wonderful and effective
organization.

Benefits of TQM
TQM (Total Quality Management) means a management approach to long-
term success through customers’ satisfactions. Moreover, TQM is only one of many
acronyms used to label management systems that focus on quality.
Applying this system can gain the satisfactions of the customer, since they
get exactly what they expected on the products. This process can also improve
service quality because of applying well-qualified employees. That’s why the
organization can get more loyal customers and reduce weaknesses by TQM.
Besides, the organization can uses both raw materials and resources more
effectively and lessen the wastes and the extra cost of the whole organization.
Furthermore, there is no arguments about dividing the duties of the employees.
Tracking and reporting the problems will be easier than before. System and
procedures can be applied in every steps.
So that, I think by applying TQM in the workplace, the business can be
improved and leading to development.

Fielder’s contingency model

Fred Fielder created Fielder’s contingency model in 1960s. He used a
questionnaire called the least preferred co-worker (LPC) scale to measure the
leadership styles.
It provides a rule of thumb for identifying which leaders are best for which
situations. Unlike many other leadership theories, it takes the situation into account.
Both the LPC and the situational factors are easy to measure. Plus, people with
moderate LPC scores tend to do well in all situations because they can adapt their
behaviors.
However, this theory is not perfect at all. It is not flexible as it cannot apply to
teams. Moreover, the LPC scale is subjective and characteristics are relative in
contexts. If you fall in the middle of the LPC scale then there is no guidance as to
which kind of leader you might be.
Therefore, we can apply this model if we have to account the situations and
the types of leadership.
