Assessment Strategies
● Diagnostic Assessment - used to gauge each students’
strengths, weaknesses, prior knowledge, and skills.
● Formative Assessment - non-graded assessment used to
modify instruction to fit the needs of the students

integrates two subjects or
disciplines.
● Multidisciplinary - integrates
several academic disciplines to
bring a unique perspective to a

Instructional Goals and Objectives
● Each activity features a variety of materials for students to explore and investigation through their learning of the
water cycle.
● Additionally, students will be placed in different collaborative groups - whole class instruction, partners, small groups,
or individuals to provide new learning experiences and discovery.
● Classroom expectations require students to work collaboratively, follow instructions, and maintain respect for any
instructional materials.
● Each activity can be easily implemented to assist students with learning disabilities or those that struggle to
understand important concepts.
○ Intro Activity - for students needing additional support, materials will be pre-set and students will be instructed to watch
an instructional video with detailed directions beforehand.
○ In Activity #1, if students are unable to dance or move freely, they are still welcome and encouraged to sing the song
aloud!
○ Activity #2 can be modified by elementing concepts of the template. A modified template may be given to students still
working on letter-sound correspondence or those receiving occupational therapy for writing.
○ Activity #3 can be modified to include supportive partners to those struggling with the fine motor movement required to
paint a specific area.
○ Activity #4 will be differentiated for those that struggle to read. Adaptations of the script can be made to boost the
confidence of any struggle student!
Expressive Arts

Derived from PA Academic Standards for the Arts and Humanities:

● Dance Education is a kinesthetic art form that satisfies the human need to respond to
life experiences through movement of the physical being.
● Music Education is an aural art form that satisfies the human need to respond to life
experiences through singing, listening and/or playing an instrument.
● Theatre Education is an interdisciplinary art form that satisfies the human need to
express thoughts and feelings through written text, dramatic interpretation and
multimedia production.
● Visual Arts Education is a spatial art form that satisfies the human need to respond to
life experiences through images, structures and tactile works.
Expressive Arts Event - Mary Poppins Musical

● Choreographed and attend Central York

High School’s production of Mary Poppins.
● Integrated music, design, dance, and
theatre in one singular production.
● Worked with over 70 cast members!
● Collaborated with multiple members of the
production team.
Personal Reflection

● I have learned that the arts can be easily integrated into a curriculum to
provide an engaging and enriching environment.
● I learned that the expressive arts integration allows children to explore and
express their emotions, building their ability to empathize.
● I have learned that students can construct and build their own opinion and
perspective through the expressive arts to expand their worldview.
● This course taught me to expand my way of thinking in order to provide
additional support and more opportunities for all of the students in the
classroom.
