Universal Design for Learning (UDLReflect upon the activity you have planned for the students. The
technology tool you selected for this lesson idea will support ALL students. Thinking about the UDL principles,
how does this activity and the technology tools you selected support and enhance the learning experience for
students in the classroom? (The UDL Wheel may help you identify the ways this activity and selected
technology tool will support Engagement, Representation or Action and Expression components of the UDL
framework.)

My activity allows students to utilize a tool they have learned Adobe Spark to create a fun and engaging
presentation. Adobe Spark allows students to showcase the information they have learned and present it
to the class.
● Activates prior knowledge
● Authentic learning experience

● Self-paced
● Ability to differentiate the product
● Provides students with example and reminders
● Audio accessible

Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? How will student learning be assessed? How will
the final product be used to inform/differentiate learning? How will you extend the student learning to a
higher learning level? How will you conclude the lesson? How will you provide feedback to students about
their work? MINIMUM 2 paragraph overview.
As the class has been learning about the life cycles of different plants and animals students will use Adobe
Spark to create a movie presentation to showcase what they have learned. To introduce the project I will
show the students my movie. I will ask them questions about what information they saw I included in my
movie. For example, I will ask if they saw a title or credits? This project will take about an hour if the students
have their pre-planning of topics and information they want to include ready. The teacher will provide
support by walking around and observing the student’s progress and answering any questions the students
have. The students will be assessed through the lesson by formative questioning from the teacher. The final
product will be assessed by a rubric to see if the students have met the standard.

The final product will be presented to the class. Differentiated learning will be addressed by allowing students
to use video, audio work in groups or pairs. With this tech tool students are allowed to take the project home
and work on it there and share it with the family. Students are allowed to insert captions which allows the
presentation to be in the student’s native language. To further extend this lesson students will be able to
publish their video on the class blog for parents to see and add comments. To conclude this lesson we will
have a group discussion about what students liked or disliked about this way of presenting. This will provide
the teacher with feedback. Students will receive feedforward on their presentation from a graded rubric.
Students will also receive feedback during their creative process. The teacher will check in with each student
as they are creating their presentation.
Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tool critical to the project? Could the project
be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology,
if any, are going to be used in the learning experience?
The ability to use a multimedia authoring tool is critical to this project because it allows students the ability to
add their creativity and engagement. This project could be done without technology as a paper but students
who need a creative outlet and thrive using technology would miss out. Students are able to spark their
imaginations and build their technology skills that are useful in real-world situations.
Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (Whether in part or
whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you “borrowed” from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding Internet safety and
student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how you would (1)
minimize risks to students/yourself; (2) alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and (3) follow common
Internet Safety/Acceptable Use Policies.
Teachers could run into internet safety and student privacy problems by having students publish their final
product on the classroom blog. The teacher would need to receive permission slips from the parents before
she published them. The websites students are using for gathering their information could also pose a
problem. To minimize these risks teachers will need to research web pages that are appropriate for students
to use. The teacher also needs to circulate to make sure students are not wandering off to another site.
Teachers need to make sure they understand all the school’s privacy and safety regulations.
Reflective Practice: After designing this lesson idea, how do you feel the activities you created could impact
student learning? You may have designed this idea as an introductory activity to a unit of study. With that in
mind, what could be done to further extend the lesson? Are there other technology tools that could further
enhance this project?
I feel that the activity I created could impact students' learning by engaging students, encouraging students to
collaborate, and allowing them to use their creative side. I feel like this way of presenting alleviates the
pressure of writing a traditional paper gives students. To extend this lesson students could share their

presentation with another science class. Students could also use it to teach parents what they are learning on
the class blog. Another tool that could further enhance this project would be adding it to Flipgrid or a Padlet
page.
