Topic/Theme: Gerund and Infinitive

Motivation: 1. ‘Learning Verbal Songs’
(The pupils will watch a music video about the three types of verbals:
Gerunds, Infinitives, and Participles)

Lesson Proper: 1. Discuss what gerunds and infinitives are


2. Discuss when to use infinitives (after verbs, after verb + object
combinations, after adjectives) and gerunds (after verbs, after
prepositions, as subjects and complements)
3. Give examples then ask the pupils to give examples, too.

Activity/Evaluation: 1. Let the pupils do the ‘Tell me about… Game’


(The pupils will look for a partner. The Pupil A will ask about something
and the Pupil B will respond using a gerund or infinitive in each
sentence.)

2. Individual activity – ‘Minecraft Meets Gerunds and Infinitives’


(The pupils will circle the correct form (to–infinitive or –ing form)

Motivation: 1. The pupils will watch a music video of Modal Verb Song.

Lesson Proper: 1. Enumerate the different modals (can, could, may, might, must, must
not/may not, need not, ought to, shall, should, will and would)

2. Discuss the uses of each modals and give examples after

3. Ask the pupils to give examples to each modals

Activity/Evaluation: 1. Play the game ‘Modal Verb Noughts & Crosses’


(The pupils will choose the square they want, they must make up a
sentence that uses the modal verb correctly before claiming the
square.)

Motivation: 1. Play the “Preposition” by the Bazillions and the “Preposition Play
Along Song” to introduce the topic.

Lesson Proper: 1.Ask the pupils what is preposition and where do we place preposition
in the sentence.

2. Discuss the prepositions – at, in on, the prepositions of place and


direction and the prepositions in expressions of time.

3. Use the different prepositions in a sentence.

Activity/Evaluation: 1. The pupils will make a simple rainbow craft. They will use
prepositions and write sentences on the different colors of the
rainbow.
