Have you ever wondered how soccer gets into our life?

Why they are so many people in

the world who are crazy about this game? Almost every culture has reference to the history of
soccer. The origin of soccer can be found in every corner of the world. The Chinese, Japanese,
Italian, Ancient Greeks, Persians, Vikings, and many more played a ball game long before our
era. The Chinese played a kind of football 2000 years ago. The Ancient Greeks and the Roman
used football games to train warriors for battle.

I have chosen ,, Soccer in USA” as my topic for my certificate because it represents the
world’s most beautiful game. Whether it’s playing it or watching it, I can’t live without it
because this kind of sport is more like a passion to me than just a simple wasting time activity as
it is seen by many people. They think that soccer is just about kicking a ball, but they make a big
mistake. Being a soccer player means to have a good physical condition and, also, to have a clear
and clever mind, which will help you to lead your team to win the game and to gain the
admiration of the fans.
Moreover, it is a known fact that soccer unites people, no matter what religion, ethnicity,
or color. It brings them together in ways that one wouldn’t expect. Whether it be during a
political uprising, an economic downturn or something else, fans still flood the streets when it
comes to theirs national team. All the glory that comes with a win puts aside any opposition,
because seeing your country do well on a national level, means the whole world to you. And
when they win, you couldn’t be any prouder of your ethnicity and background. You carry that
flag on your shoulder like a ring that you wear forever.
As It is said, soccer is often considered to be a universal language, spoken and respected
around the world, but has somewhat failed to hold in the United States. In comparison to nations
worldwide, the United States lacks the fervor and passion surrounding this sport because is not as
deeply rooted within the culture as other more traditionally American sports, such as baseball,
basketball and football. This, however, does not mean that their playing performance is boring or
unworthy to see .To be honest , soccer played in the US is fascinating and it is not comparable to
that in Europe. The reason I say this is the fact that is not about skills and techniques to lead the
ball, it's just about mentality, fair play and respect among the players.

My certificate starts with a chapter called ,,Introduction’’ which briefly presents the topics
which are going to be debated and it also contains a couple of information about this sport.
Soccer in the United States is governed by the United States Soccer Federation. The organization
governs most levels of soccer in the country, including the national teams, professional leagues,
and the amateur game with the exception of college and high school soccer. There has been some
debate about the origins of modern soccer in America but 2013 research has shown that soccer
entered America through the port of New Orleans, as Irish, English, Scottish, Italian and German
immigrants brought the game with them.
The United States men's national soccer team represents the United States in international
soccer and it is the topic for my second chapter. The team is controlled by the United States
Soccer Federation and it has appeared in ten FIFA World Cups, including the inaugural edition,
where they achieved their best result by reaching the semi-finals. Since their first unofficial game
against Canada, the most common U.S. uniform has been white tops with blue shorts. There have
been two main supporter groups backing the United States men's national soccer team, Sam's
Army and The American Outlaws which follows the team everywhere, especially when they
have a match against their biggest rival, which are Mexic.

The United States women's national soccer team, which is the subject of this chapter,
proves us the thing that soccer is not so tough and it also can be practiced by women at the same
intensity as the men does. As we speak, the team ranks the first position in the FIFA Women's
World Rankings, followed by Germany, the only other team to achieve this performance. The
team is the most successful in international women's soccer, winning three Women's World Cup
titles (including the first ever Women's World Cup in 1991) and four Olympic women's gold
medals. It medaled in every single World Cup and Olympic tournament in women's soccer
history from 1991 to 2016, before being knocked out in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Olympics,
after a penalty shoot-out.
The highest-level men's professional soccer league in the U.S. is Major League Soccer and
it represents the topic for the third chapter. Major League Soccer began play in 1996 with 10
teams, and has grown to 22 teams (19 in the United States and 3 in Canada), with further
expansion planned. The MLS season runs from March to December, with the regular-season
winner awarded the Supporters' Shield and the post-season winner awarded the MLS Cup.
Teams are divided into the Eastern and Western Conferences. Teams play 34 games in an
unbalanced schedule: 23 matches against teams within their conference, plus 11 matches against
teams from the other conference.
The last chapter is entirely dedicated to a great personality for the international women's
football. It is about Mia Hamm. She is a retired professional soccer player, two-time Olympic
gold medalist, and two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion. Hailed as a soccer icon, she
played as a forward for the United States women's national soccer team from 1987–2004.
In conclusion, soccer means more than a sport, means emotion, passion and sometimes
many sacrifices. It means a sport that now is probably the most loved sport in the world. In
soccer you can see players fighting for every ball, players ready to give their life on the pitch for
their teams to win, or even for their fans, who often go many miles all over this world after their
favorites. In my opinion, it is a fabulous thing to be a soccer player, to know that due to you a
match can be won, and that match will bring you the glory that everyone runes after it. I strongly
believe that US represents one of the most civilized place to practice this sport. The soccer
played in this country has something special and it is different from other game styles around the
world and what make me say this thing is the fact that the mentality of the players and the
respect among them creates a beautiful, incurable show that deserves all the attention and
admiration of the audience.
