Club Value/Culture Evaluation 15 Points Possible

Semester 1 Score: 15/15
A minimum of two value high strengths and two areas of value improvement or opportunity defined. Must use behavior
based examples. Please bullet each.
Strengths:
Two of my high strengths would be teamwork and having good character. I use teamwork by supporting not only staff
but the students within daily activities. I also try to help give feedback to students to continue working towards their
best potential. I have good character when approaching other staff or even parents by communicating openly and
respectfully. I try to remain calm and positive regardless of the situation.
Madilyn is supportive and helps when and where needed. She knows the members by taking the time to listen to them and
to meet their needs so that they can focus and learn. Madilyn is a calm and positive person who pays attention to students
and figures out what feedback they need for each of them to work towards their best potential.
In class, Madilyn has helped students get back on track by mentioning a connection she knows about them that relates to
the topic we are focused on learning about in class. She understands the importance of relating real-life connections to
what we are learning.
Not only is Madilyn great at connecting what we are learning in class to student’s real-life experiences, she has even led
movement/singing brain breaks to get students back on track with doing his/her best. We are lucky to have Madilyn with
her talents and experience in education at the Clubhouse.
Because of Madilyn’s good character, she does great at approaching staff and parents. By listening intently, she offers a lot
of insight as to how we can best help a member during certain situations. Even though it would be volunteer time, Madilyn
has mentioned that she would like to participate in some Parent-Teacher Conferences. She wants to get the experience of
meeting parents in this setting in order to build her communication skills. Her want to grow by attending experiences like
these, shows she will be an exceptional communicator and teacher.

Areas to work on or areas of opportunities:

Two areas of improvement could be impact driven along with excellence. I think that I could do more in the classroom
trying to help with going above and beyond. I think that when I know all the ins and outs of the classroom, this will get
CPO Annual Performance Review Page 2 of 14
better, and I can work towards going above and beyond. An area of excellence I could work on would be being able to
continuously implement changes to routine and maintaining that change.
Madilyn is adjusting nicely to the classroom routine. Everyday, Madilyn makes sure the classroom runs smoothly and
sufficiently by staying consistent with the expectations and following through. She has grown in the area of making sure to
keep everything clean and making sure the classroom is ready for the next day. She provides great suggestions, such as one
including how we could keep materials cleaner. She said that by having a bucket of bleach and water in a cabinet in our
room, we could put items that go into member’s mouths and other unsanitary areas into it. Doing this would prevent the
spread of germs even more. It’s also a simple change that doesn’t add a lot of time into our already busy schedules.

To improve in the area of going above and beyond, Madilyn could ask to make copies, prep materials, and offer more ways
to make improvements. She could also change out some of the centers if time allocates for doing so, such as the dramatic
play or the sensory table. Another area of help around the room could include importing pictures and setting them up into
PowerPoint, so they are ready to go into the Daily Journal.

Madilyn already helps with making sure members get what they need, expectations are followed for consistency, leading if
the teacher needs to take care of a situation, keeping the room clean, cutting out laminated items, giving ideas for Kindness
Kid art lessons, and the list goes on.

Madilyn is getting better at maintaining the routine. It is difficult to implement changes to a routine, but it is needed at
times to provide what is best for members. Whenever we implement change, Madilyn is on board. The tricky part is she is
only here Tuesdays and Thursdays, so staying consistent with implementing change is difficult at times just because of the
time lapse between when she is here and when she is not in the classroom. Due to the time lapse, consistent
communication about changes made while she was not in the classroom is key with her knowing and understanding the
changes as well as with her implementing them.

Since Madilyn was new to the Club this year, she needed to have time to learn the ins and outs of the corporation. Since
starting, Madilyn has gained more comfort in knowing what is expected of her. She completes her routine tasks and has
gone above and beyond by doing things that have not been asked of her—she just knows they are things that need to get
done. She is a self-starter. For example, Madilyn will clean the tables, get the next day’s snacks, and put materials away
before the end of the day so we are ready for the next day.

Semester 2
A minimum of two value high strengths and two areas of value improvement or opportunity defined. Must use behavior
based examples. Please bullet each.
Strengths: One of my strengths this semester would be coming to work with a smile on my face, high energy, and a

positive attitude. I think that It is easy to come to work with a smile no matter the circumstances. It is fun for me to get
to interact not only with the students but my co-workers. They make my day so much brighter! The work environment
at the club was nothing short of amazing this semester. I also gave high energy due to the fact that I was in that routine
mode and was able to have energy for the day with a good nights’ rest and with the students following expectations. I
also have been able to bring that high energy to the room because Mrs. Petersen has such great high energy. The more
enthusiastic teachers are about learning the more the students want to learn. Without high energy students would be
bored and not want to come to class every day. This also ties into a positive attitude! Students need to be modeled a
positive attitude so they themselves can conquer all things. All of these things create a teacher that students want to
learn from and help to model for them how to become successful in the classroom as well. A second strength of mine
that correlates closely with the first one would be displaying passion for what one does within and for the organization.
This semester was absolutely amazing for me and I loved teaching along side Mrs. Petersen. The class was so fun to work
with and I loved watching them flourish not only as individuals but as learners as well. So many behaviors were
maintained and so many learners really started to progress towards that Kindergarten level. Being in this classroom
really reminded me why I want to be a teacher and how much joy it brings me. I am very passionate about the students,
learning from Mrs. Petersen, and becoming a future independent teacher. The club has been spectacular preparation for
me to go out into the world of teaching.

Areas to work on or areas of opportunities:

A big area I know I need to improve upon would be answering co-workers requests and all correspondence in a timely
manner. My friends will even say that unless they don’t call me, I am difficult to get ahold of at times. I want to get better
at answering texts and emails for everything in life. I normally see them but then get distracted by something else and
forget to respond. I am planning to put aside a time that I am able to respond to all texts and emails for an hour to get
caught up. I hope that this will allow me to improve my responses to be quicker and to get them done. Another area I
could work on would be continuing to go above and beyond. Having school be online now I want to try to work on helping
my co-workers by coming up with ideas to make school fun yet through the virtual world. I have been given some different
strategies of online tools through my professors and intend to share them with the Facebook group if they are age
appropriate.

Semester 1 Summary:
Two Strengths this Semester and Two Areas to work on for upcoming Semester
Two strengths that I have this semester would be communicating with not only the students but also with Mrs. Petersen. I do this by explaining what is
going on with students to Mrs. Petersen along with explaining to kids why things happen in the Club. Another strength of mine includes being able to
remain calm even when things get overwhelming in the room. Even though I may be stressed on the inside, I try to go with the flow and make the
lightest of situations. By doing this, it makes it easier for me to communicate with the students and with Mrs. Petersen in a calm mature manner.

Madilyn does her best to communicate with the lead teacher and with students. She’s getting better at understanding the importance of relaying
parent messages to the lead teacher, so that we are all in the know. With all of us being in the know, we won’t have as much miscommunication and
parents will be more comfortable knowing that what they offer is important to us with helping their child. This will make parents feel more comfortable
with their child attending the Club. Miscommunication is a major reason teams fall apart, so with Madilyn showing growth at understanding this and
providing the lead teacher with information parents give her at morning arrival, it helps all of us stay in the know and keeps us from miscommunication
situations.
While Madilyn has grown at relaying parent messages to the lead teacher, she has also shown to be an excellent communicator with members.
Excellent communicators listen and then respond. When a child is having difficulty in class, Madilyn knows a lot of useful background information about
each child in the room. This is helpful with members knowing how much we care about them. Knowing this information also helps us build strong
connections in the room.
Because Madilyn listens to members and remembers what they tell her, she easily explains to members why things happen in the Club the way they do.
Due to having this strong connection, they listen to her. The members and her have built a respect for one another, which only comes with her being
patient and caring towards them.

Madilyn handles situations in a mature manner. She keeps the routine going while keeping a calm and cheerful atmosphere. Madilyn actively
participating in all we do. She has been an exceptional model in our classroom with understanding that to ask a member to try that we must also
participate. She makes learning fun and enjoyable even if there are times when it might get overwhelming, such as when we learn a new skill, new part
of a routine, or work on a multi-instructional activity.

Two areas I could work on would be continuously learning classroom management and how to use different techniques with various personalities
throughout the room. It’s easy to utilize a certain type of method with a child’s emotions; however, that method may not work for another child’s
emotions. I want to work on strengthening my knowledge on methods to help each child in the classroom. I would like to get better at the classroom
management aspect by better learning how to help teach students the lessons. I have obtained this goal but would like to improve more upon it to
ensure confidence in myself for the students within their learning.
Continuously learning classroom management and how to use different techniques with various personalities throughout the room are great growth
areas to focus on. It is important for us to provide you with more techniques this school year as well as to give you time to try those techniques if they
are fitting for a situation you come across this year. Some classes that might help you grow in learning more management techniques include: Love &
Logic and Conscious Discipline. Both classes offer management techniques that might help you learn and grow in your future endeavors as a teacher.
CPO Annual Performance Review Page 11 of 14
Working as a YDS along with being an assistant gives you more opportunities to learn management techniques others use in the Continued Education
program as well. We appreciate you taking on the YDS position along with assisting. By having both positions, you learn more about the Club as well as
you have more opportunity to grow in the area of classroom management. Instead of just watching how one person handles situations, you get the
opportunity to observe many people’s situational management techniques.
Semester 2 Summary:
Two Strengths this Semester and Two Areas to work on
One strength I had this semester would be keeping the routine going. This can be hard at times due to the fact that students may need extra time to
learn something specific and that is alright I will be flexible in these moments. However, having a routine allows students to become more time
efficient and learn how to do certain things within those routines. The students also like to be on a routine and will tell you if you forget something
always. However, I am human and can make mistakes and become forgetful which is another one of my strengths. I am able to blow off my mistake
and learn from it. Nobody is perfect and everyone is learning. I think this is important to model for the students because even though I may be
older than them, I still too make mistakes. They need to know that it is ok for them to make mistakes as well as it is a part of life.
One area I need to work on would again be my ability to respond to texts or emails. I don’t mean to ignore them or come off as rude but I need to
be mindful that this may be a way people perceive it. I want to work on my communication skills in this aspect and help the classroom become
successful being it is now online. Another area I would like to work on would be seeing how the lesson plans work more in the classroom. I have
seen the lesson plans first hand and have been able to teach a lesson based off of the plan. However, I would like to see it from scratch and what is
put into it and how the ideas form and how they are placed into the document and why.

This TA experience has been so eye opening to my future career in being
a teacher. I have learned so much from Mrs. Petersen and have been so
blessed to have such a great mentor. She is so wonderful to the kids
and really ensures they are comprehending what she is teaching them.
She doens’t treat them like they are little either. She treats them as
though they are independent and can do things on their own which I
think is really big. Students need to know that they are able to think
and do on their own. Thinking they are big allows them to really shoot
big instead of thinking they “can’t do” things. I have enjoyed the energy
Mrs. Petersen has brought into the classroom and plan to apply a lot of
what I've learned into my Student Teaching experience next fall. I have
been placed in Brandon next fall but am uncertain on the grade level
yet. Mrs. Petersen has done excellent in preparing me to become a
teacher and will continue helping me with improving my strengths and
weakness.
