A primeira linha de Mundo
Violino I e II, Violoncelo e Piano
Charles K. Neimog
“In a spacetime diagram, the lines drawn often represent the continuous flow of
events that occur in the history of an object (...). Such line is called the world line
1
of that object. ”
And yet:
“... the lines of the world (...) inform everything about the influence of gravity in
this region of space-time …”2
Instructions
1. During test mark D, all staccato passages (see example below) should sound distinct
from the rest, so that the crescendo is non-linear, like the graph below, where x is the time
and y the dynamic (density).
2. At measure 24 of the piano, the dashed line tells you how long the pianist should press
the tonal pedal. The notes on the third staff should not be played, only pressed without
sound. The tonal pedal should only be pressed at measure ¾. That is, in measure 25.
1
My translation, in portuguese: “Em um diagrama de espaço-tempo, as linhas desenhadas muitas vezes
representam o fluxo contínuo dos eventos que ocorrem na história de um objeto (...). Tal linha recebe o nome
de linha de mundo desse objeto”.
2
My translation, in portuguese: “...as linhas de mundo (...) informam tudo a respeito da influência da
gravidade nessa região do espaço-tempo...”.
3. With the exception of parts C and D, the piece needs be extremely expressive.
4. In measure 33 and 55 there is a microtonal note (the same), it will also be played with
the fourth harmonic, and it should sound like the E -¼ of tone of two octaves above (in
parentheses). There must be extreme care with this note, as it is structurally and
aesthetically very important. It is suggested to use tuners that indicate the number of cents.
Like, for example, the free SoundCorset app, available for Android and iOS. In this case,
the indication should be close to Mi-50 cents or Mib+50 cents.
