Hi Ramesh,

ECC 6 Installation steps

Install SAP GUI on the central instance host
Preparing for Installation in Windows
You must use NTFS for an SAP system installation
Update Dynamic Link Libraries (r3dllins.exe)

Reducing the Size of the File Cache

Start -- Settings -- Control Panel -- Network and Dialup
Connections-- Local Area Connections
When the Maximize data throughput for network applications
option is selected, the windows
file cache is reduced in size so that application server
software, such as SAP system, has
more resources available. This also decrease the time needed
for the installation, especially for
the database import

For the installation, you need a user with administration

rights.

You need to prepare one host in SAP ERP Central Component

for the role of transport host.
Map the IP address of the transport host to the
SAPTRANSHOST, you can map the IP address to
the SAPTRANSHOST alias in the Hosts file

Goto :\\\\WINNT\\\\system32\\\\drivers\\\\etc
Open the Hosts file with an editor and add the line:

SAPTRANSHOST
e.g.,
10.22.8.00 twdf0000.wdf.sap.corp twdf0000 SAPTRANSHOST

Preparing for the SAPinst Installation in Windows

Install Java Development Kit on every host on which you want
to run SAPinst
Clean up the JDK\\\\ext directory
Set JAVA_HOME environment
Add %JAVA_HOME%\\\\bin to your system path
Install SAPinst
Start SAPinst from the SAP Master DVD, Double-click
sapinst.exe from in the directory

Regards,

1. Install Windows 2003 Operating System with SP2 Service Pack

Plus hotfixes mentioned in in the installation guide...

32bit installations are no more supported

> 2. Install JDK 1.4.2_19 and set JAVA_HOME Variable

Use the latest JDK, not patch 19.

> 3. Set the Paging File to 20GB

The size of the paging file is dependent on the RAM on the system.

> 5. Create the following folders in other than c:\ Drive

> 5.1 oracle
> 5.2 sapmnt
> 5.3 usr
> 5.4 usr-->sap

on a different DISK, not partition.

> 6. Install Oracle 10g Database

using "sapserver.cmd", not setup.exe. The apply the latest patchset (10.2.0.5) PLUS the latest
interim/PSU patches.

Dear Sanjeev,

The installation of SAP instance has been explained step by step in the installation guide. If you
could go through that once, you would never expect any other documents.

If the SAP installation is new to you, I would prefer you to go through the standard installation
guide and the relevant notes available in SAP SMP atleast once, so that u will become familiar
about the pre-requisites and the known issues.

The standard installation guide is available in the following path,

https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/instguides
SAP Business Suite Applications
SAP ERP
SAP ERP 6.0
SAP enhancement packages for SAP ERP 6.0
SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0
SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0
Oracle
Relevant OS(In ur case, it is Windows)

Hope this helps.

Steps to Installing SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 IDES
on a desktop or laptop

I have installed IDES SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 successfully last night on my AMD 64 bit machine with
5 GB RAM and 500 GB Hard Disk Drive. It took approximately 12 hours to finish the
installation. I have done the following steps to complete the successful installation.

 I have installed 64 bit Windows server enterprise operating system

 I have made 500 GB Hard Disk into 3 partitions. The partition sizing details are as
follows…

C: 50GB – 5.76GB filled

D: 300GB – 285GB filled with data
E: Remaining – 55GB software size

 I chose ‘sapdev’ as computer name (Host Name) while installation. You can choose any
computer name, but you need solman key for the selected hostname
 I have installed Microsoft Loopback adapter and configured static IP address. Loopback
adapter can be avoided if your computer on network with a network IP.
 I have set pagefile as 25000 MB – 30000 MB in D drive. This page file can be assined in
many drives instead of one.
 I have copied complete IDES SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 software dump to my E drive
 I have installed j2sdk1.4.2_12 and configured JAVA HOME and did path setting
 I have installed Oracle for 64bit machine
 I ran Installation master
 I have chosen proper paths for Export DVDs, Kernel, oracle client and given values like
SAP SID and Oracle SID as and when installation master insisted to enter values
 I have entered solution manager key
 I have seen the completion screen of Central services instance screen and closed. This
step took 10 hours time.
 I have Installed presentation server (GUI)
 I have  added New item SAP Logon pad with parameters of SAP system
 I haved logged into the SAP system using client 001, user name and password

I think the installation of SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 IDES is very simple for me because i did it many
times. I took all the screen shots while doing above installation. Please write a mail to get them at
nominal charges. I will also do remote installations and give support for online servers. Please
get back to me for the support prices. I can also do this installation in a cloud environment for
temporary or long term purpose. I do give freelance support on official sap software
implementations. I can help the people who wants to practice sap modules on their laptops using
vmware without loosing host operating system.

Please ask any questions or doubts here only as comments to this article. This information will
be helpful for other readers of this blog.

Thanks

Raj
