MATH 1332
Contemporary Math
This college-level mathematics course will further develop your skills in logical thinking and in
analyzing patterns while teaching you various types of mathematical techniques for problem solving.
While some algebra will be used, depending on the particular topics covered, this is not an algebra
course and does not prepare you for higher-level mathematics courses which are algebra intensive.
When you begin this course you should be able to do the following problems. Use a calculator as
needed.
( x y )c m 2
I. Evaluate: , where c = 7, m = 13, n = 18, and x + y = 21.
cn
II. Estimate the answer, doing the calculation in your head (NO CALCULATOR OR
PENCIL).
ab
Evaluate: , where a = 32.7, b = 7.26, c = 9.1, and d = 12.63.
