Estonia is creating a borderless digital society for global citizens as the first country to
offer e-Residency.

E-Residency is a transnational digital identity that anyone in the world can apply for to
obtain access to a platform built on inclusion, legitimacy and transparency. E-residents
then have access to the EU business environment and can use public e-services through
their digital identity.

Application for e-Residency

e-Residency is a transnational digital identity available to anyone in the world interested in administering a
location-independent business online. e-Residency enables to use secure and convenient digital services that
facilitate credibility and trust online.

The state fee for e-Resident digi-ID card is 100 euros.

NB! Please be aware that e-Residency does not confer citizenship, tax residency, residence or right of
entry to Estonia or to the European Union. It is not a visa or residence permit. The e-Resident digi-ID
card is not a physical identification or a travel document, and does not display a photo.

not issue any supportive documents in case you require a visa or any other authorisation to travel to your
chosen pick-up location.

Identification details
Please note that you are required to collect your e-Residency digi-ID card in person from one of the Estonian
foreign representations or the Police and Border Guard Board service points in Estonia. You will be required
to present a valid travel document and give your fingerprints when collecting your e-Residency digi-ID card.
Members of the Diplomatic corps accredited to Estonia will need to present their application in person in one
of the service points in Estonia or in the Estonian foreign representation closest to them.
