Vocal Play Ideas

• Rollercoaster Vocal Play


o Represent a rollercoaster with your hands by moving up and down
o As you go up, your pitch gets higher
o As you go down, your pitch gets lower
• Use Figures to Play with Sounds
o Mickey & Goofy
▪ Mickey = high pitched voice
▪ Goofy = low pitched voice
o Witch, Monster & Ghost
▪ Witch = high pitched voice
▪ Monster = low pitched voice
▪ Ghost = sliding voice – changing from high pitch to low pitch
o Wolf = sliding voice – changing from low pitch to high pitch
o Dory – Whale Speaking
▪ When Dory, from Finding Nemo, spoke in whale, she slid her voice from
low pitch to high pitch and from high pitch to low pitch
o Seagulls = high pitched voice
o Squirrels = high pitched voice
• Use Toys to Play with Sounds
o The Whir Toy = high pitch
▪ Play with the toy, and try to imitate the sound it makes with your voice
o Sirens = sliding – high pitch to low pitch and low pitch to high pitch
▪ Use police cars, firetrucks, or ambulances to imitate the sounds of their
sirens with your voice
o Cazoo = sliding – high pitch to low pitch and low pitch to high pitch
▪ Play the cazoo and use your voice to imitate the sounds that you hear
