Comparison and Contrasting of Swine Flu, Bird Flu, and COVID-19

Swine flue, bird flue and Covid-19 are diseases that are caused by viruses. All three of these
diseases succeeded in horrendous the world because of the spread and consequence of the deaths they
made. Viruses are indeed small, even smaller than bacteria. However, its ability to reproduce itself
quickly, in addition to being able to move from one organism to another, makes it able to electrify the
world with the illnesses that arise. Here is a comparison and contrasting of swine flu, bird flu and
COVID-19.
Swine flu is an influenza (flu) virus that affects pigs but has also spread to humans. This infection
is most often caused by the H1N1 virus, and in less frequent cases by subtypes, H1N2, H3N1, and H3N2.
The virus causes an extremely contagious respiratory disease. After the 2009 outbreak of this virus,
measures were taken to fight the disease. There is now, even a vaccine against H1N1 to help prevent
further infection and the spread of it. Though the epidemic has faded, swine flu is still a threat as it can
spread from human to human. Symptoms of swine flu include chills, fever, body ache, headache, sore
throat, cough, extreme tiredness, and in some cases even vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms can be
eased similarly to regular flu symptoms, in addition to taking swine flu medication such as
‘Adamantanes’ and ‘Oseltamivir’. The main causes of swine flu is close interaction with infected
individuals. It is much more common to get swine flu from an infected pig; however, human-to-human
contact does cause the spread of the flu. This virus, like all influenza viruses, affects the cells that line the
respiratory tract, i.e. the nose, throat and lungs. Inhaling droplets from affected people’s coughing and
sneezing can cause the infection to spread. The disease can cause complications such as pneumonia and
respiratory failure. It can also reach the brain to cause seizures, worsen heart disease and asthma. It is
important to be careful while in close contact with pigs, or with other humans who have regular
interaction with pigs, such as vets. Watch out for these symptoms and visit a doctor if you observe any of
them. the vaccine is recommended at least once a year. In addition, prevention of transmission can be
done by: 1) Be diligent in washing your hands with soap and water. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if
necessary. 2) Avoid direct contact with the person as much as possible. 3) Don't travel if you are sick.
Bird flu is caused by a type of influenza virus that rarely infects humans. More than a dozen types
of bird flu have been identified, including the two strains that have most recently infected humans —
H5N1 and H7N9. When bird flu does strike humans, it can be deadly. Outbreaks of bird flu have occurred
in Asia, Africa, North America and parts of Europe. Most people who have developed symptoms of bird
flu have had close contact with sick birds. In a few cases, bird flu has passed from one person to another.
Only sporadic human cases have been reported since 2015Signs and symptoms of bird flu may begin
within two to seven days of infection, depending on the type. In most cases, they resemble those of
conventional influenza, including: cough, fever, sore throat, muscle aches, headache, shortness of breath.
Bird flu occurs naturally in wild waterfowl and can spread into domestic poultry, such as chickens,
turkeys, ducks and geese. The disease is transmitted via contact with an infected bird's feces, or secretions
from its nose, mouth or eyes. Open-air markets, where eggs and birds are sold in crowded and unsanitary
conditions, are hotbeds of infection and can spread the disease into the wider community. Undercooked
poultry meat or eggs from infected birds can transmit bird flu. Poultry meat is safe to eat if it's been
cooked to an internal temperature of 165 F (74 C). Eggs should be cooked until the yolks and whites are
firm. Alacrity to deal with a pandemic influenza requires unity of efforts to control bird flu, including
surveillance, erly detection, containment, response, and communication. increase public awareness in
following up on a bird flu incident so that the accuracy and speed of handling cases is an important key in
controlling bird flu.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been
previously identified in humans. Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between
animals and people.  Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to
humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating
in animals that have not yet infected humans. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms,
fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause
pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. Standard recommendations
to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and
sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of
respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
So this disease is a disease caused by different viruses and different ways of spreading too. to
prevent the three viruses that attack our body, we should always maintain endurance and increase
exercise.
