Good morning. This is my first product launch since being named CEO.

I love apple and

I consider it the privilege of a lifetime to have worked here for almost 14 years and I am very

excited about this new role. I want to especially welcome you to this campus. Just ten years ago

we launched the original iPod right here and it went on to revolutionize the way we listen to

music. Today will remind you of the uniqueness of this company as we announce our

innovations into a powerful yet simple and integrated experience.

Now our products are at the core of everything we do and are responsible for the

momentum that we have. First up is the Macintosh. You cannot talk about the mac without

talking about lion. Walt Mossberg of the wall street journal said it is the best computer operating

system out there. I do not think I could have said it better.

At the same time, we introduced lion, we introduced the new MacBook air. It is thin and

light and beautiful and wicked fast. Wired magazine says, “after years of hoping and searching I

finally found laptop nirvana.” Our customers love it and our competitors have been trying to

copy it, but they are finding it is not so simple.

Next up is music and of course music for us is iTunes and iPod. It was only 10 years ago

that iPod launched, and it not only revolutionized the whole music industry but on a personal

level it reminded all of us how much we loved music and made it so simple to enjoy again. It

took Sony 30 years to sell 220,000 Walkman cassette players. We have sold 45 million iPod in

the last year ending in June. It became a part of our lives from studying to commuting to

exercising to just hanging out at home

Now you cannot talk about music without talking about iTunes. iTunes started about 8

years ago. We started with 200,000 songs in our music library. We now have 20 million songs
offered for sale. It is the number one music store in the world, and we have now downloaded

over 16 billion songs.

Lastly, iPhone. This could be a reason why the room is full today. The iPhone 4 in a very

short period has sold over half our total iPhone sold. It is become the number one smartphone in

the world.

What is more important than all of this is that customers love iPhone and it is consistently

rated number one in every customer satisfaction ranking I can find. It is not number one by a

small amount. In fact, the iPhone is pummeling the competition. It is an extraordinary time to be

at apple.
