ABSTRACT
Various kinds of social conflicts in life cause teenagers to be able to socialize
with their environment. This ability is influenced by interpersonal intelligence.
This research was conducted based on the result of a preliminary study by
interviewing the teenagers of a private high school in Cimahi. It showed that out
of 10 teenagers, it was found that there were teenagers who rarely communicated
and gathered with their parents. It caused the teenagers isolated themselves and
were reluctant to share their problems with parents and friends. This study aimed
to find out the correlation between the function of family socialization and
interpersonal intelligence of private high school teenagers in Cimahi. The
function of family socialization is functioned to enhance socialization, form
behavioral norms, and continue family cultural values. Interpersonal intelligence
is the ability to build a relationship, adjust one shelf, and communicate with
others. This research method is quantitative with a descriptive correlational
design through a cross-sectional approach. The data were analyzed using
Pearson Product Moment test. The instrument of this study was a questionnaire
distributed to 179 respondents using the stratified random sampling technique.
The result showed that there was a correlation between the function of family
socialization and interpersonal intelligence of private high school teenagers in
Cimahi (p-value 0,000 < 0,05). The researcher suggests the school to provide
counseling by involving parents and teenagers regarding the function of family
socialization.
