The day we moved house was one of the busiest days of my life. It was in December. (a)

.........during...... , we had been packing for a long time, but there was (b) .........still....... an awful lot

of work to do on the actual day. (c) .......fortunalety..... , everything went smoothly. The removal

men arrived and began loading their van. (d) ........while........ they were emptying room after room,

my wife and I were trying to clean up. We hardly noticed the fact that it had begun to snow.

Then

things began to go wrong. (e) ......firs..... , a valuable table was dropped and its leg broke.

(f) .........afterwards........, we lost the baby, and it was not (g) ......after....... she started to cry

that we realized she had been put into the van by mistake. We worked hard all morning, and by

midday our old house was empty.

(h)......while........ it continued to snow. We set off on the journey to our new house, driving

slowly to avoid skidding in the icy conditions. WE (i)......finally........ arrived at four o’clock, by

which time it was dark, and three feet of snow covered the ground. (j) .......meanwhile...... , we

had quite a few people to help us unload, and by six o’clock we were in. (k) ...........at last......., we

wondered how we had managed to do everything. I’ll never forget that day. (l) ..........really.... , I

still have nightmares about it!

El día que nos mudamos de casa fue uno de los días

más ocupados de mi vida. Fue en diciembre. Durante
mucho tiempo estuvimos empacando, pero todavía había
mucho trabajo por hacer en el día. afortunadamente todo
salió bien. El traslado me llegó y comenzó a cargar su
camioneta. mientras estaban vaciando la habitación
después, mi esposa y yo estábamos tratando de limpiar.
Apenas notamos el hecho de que había comenzado a
nevar. Entonces esto comenzó a salir mal. al principio se
dejó caer una valiosa mesa y se rompió la pierna.
después perdimos al bebé, y no fue hasta que después
de que ella comenzó a llorar nos dimos cuenta de que la
habían metido en la camioneta por error. Trabajamos
duro toda la mañana, y al mediodía nuestra vieja casa
estaba vacía. mientras seguía nevando. partimos en el

viaje a nuestra nueva casa, conduciendo lentamente para

evitar derrapar en las condiciones de hielo. finalmente
llegamos a las cuatro en punto, cuando ya estaba oscuro,
y tres pies de nieve cubrían el suelo. Mientras tanto,
teníamos bastantes personas para ayudarnos a
descargar, y a las seis en punto nos preguntamos cómo
habíamos logrado hacer todo. Nunca olvidaré ese día.
Realmente todavía tengo pesadillas al respecto.
