To register intellectual property in Mexico you must follow the following steps:

● Once you have an idea of the company you want to register, you should go to the
Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI) to whom you will request your
patent application and deliver to themselves.

● Documents must be added that specifically explain the creation of your patent,
the physical or chemical elements that compose it, the details of its operation and
any specific characteristic that is essential in its creation, development or use.

● All drawings, diagrams and descriptions that may have independently must also
be included.Wait six months until the result of the study carried out by the IMP is
known and know if it grants the license, which will contain all the rights and
obligations that the creator or inventor must cover.

● Process to follow with patents that have already started the same process in
another countryIf the patent has already been applied for in another country, it is
necessary to make it known through the patent application from the first moment,
following the following steps:Indicate the country and the date on which the first
patent application was made.

● The patent application in Mexico should not demand more rights than those
requested in the first country where the patent is applied for.Patent applications
in Mexico claiming additional rights must wait to be considered, although they are
not limited to any other process.

● You have three months to comply with all the requirements requested in the
International Treaties, the Intellectual Property Law of Mexico and any other that
is applicable to the specific case. The three months begin to run from the
moment the application is submitted.
