Behind the Black Nazarene devotion

Black Nazarene. The Black Nazarene was made by an unknown Mexican Artist
that was transported from Mexico to the Philippines. Year 1650, the icon gained
recognition. It was renowned in the country and is seen as someone who is miraculous.
Every January 9, the believers conduct procession where the icon is being worship and
touch. Millions of devotees attend the procession as a sign of belief.

Just last Tuesday, six million devotees join the Black Nazarene procession of
2018. Rambo Talabong of Rappler said 6.314 million joined the procession alone. A
million bigger than last year’s attendees of 5.4 million.

People put their trust and confidence in the Black Nazarene. Many worship to
have bountiful harvest. Some prays to make a united and healthy community. No one
blame the people for believing. No one blame the people for standing up for their faith.

Faith in the Black Nazarene or any other Gods should be respected. No matter
what your belief is, or who your God is, everyone deserves to be respected. All of us
deserves to be who we are.

Faith, according to Jim Haeffele, is trust and assurance in God. People who
worship the Black Nazarene believe in his capacity to make an impact in their lives.
Respect begets respect. It also applies in faith and religion and our freedom to have
one.
