Dear Diary,
Today, we discussed about “Greatness” in our Values subject.
*gets laptop and search ‘greatness’ in Google, and she’ll scroll through* *narration will come in*
“According to the Wikipedia, greatness can be referred to an individual who possess a natural ability
to be better than others. But how does one become great? How can we measure a man’s greatness?
In the history, there were people who were labeled as “The Great” such as Alexander the Great,
Frederick the Great, and Catherine the Great.
Alexander the Great ruled after his father, King Philip II. He conquered lands and was a great military
leader. His empire was one of the largest empires the world has ever known.
Frederick the Great was the last titled King in Prussia. Territories of Prussia had greatly increased and
became a leading military power in Europe in his time.
And Catherine the Great was an empress of Russia who had the longest reign of any female Russian
leader. She immensely expanded her country’s empire.
They’ve all been called “Great” because they did something great or large or anything that not
everyone can do. Is that how we really measure greatness?”
Next scene:
Bianca will wake up and start her day.
“I am Bianca, a high school student and a daughter. That’s only what I can say about myself. I don’t have
any greatness to tell. I’m not an achiever and I don’t know what I want to be someday. Basically, I’m just
here.
But I’m tired of being “just here”. People are coming and leaving, things get broken and fixed, time is
passing and I’m still not the better person I want myself to be. I want to give significance to the life that
was given to me. I want to make a contribution to the world. But how do I even start?
Bianca is with her friend who is showing her medals. A dirty little kid goes near them.
Friend: Eww! You’re dirty. Stay away!
*the little kid was shocked*
*Bianca grabs the kid’s hand*
Bianca: I’ll take care of her.
Bianca will clean up the little kid, fix her hair and dress her up nicely and then she’ll return to where her
friends are with the kid.
What Bianca don’t know is that her brother saw what she did.
Next Scene:
Bianca is eating and her brother joins her.
Brother: How’s school?
Bianca: Fine.
Brother: You don’t seem fine.
Bianca: *sighs* Kuya, how does it feel to achieve something? You know. How does it feel to be great?
Brother: Why are you asking?
Bianca: I want to know how it’s like.
Brother: You’re a great person. You should know how it’s like.
Bianca: I’m not. I haven’t done any greatness. I don’t know how.
Brother: *smiles* what you did the other day, when you dressed up that little kid instead of driving her
away too like what your friend did----that’s greatness.
Bianca: but greatness is when you do something big, something that not everyone can do.
Brother: Yes, but don’t forget that greatness is also when you treat other people right, regardless of
their appearance and social status. Not everyone can do that.
Bianca will smile.

Dear Diary,
Today, I realized something. Greatness is not only when you’ve done something big.
Greatness is not only shown through what someone has achieved. A man’s greatness is also shown by
the way he treats little men.
Next scene:
*a beggar is begging for food and she will give food. *
*she will give food and water to stray cats/dogs*
*Bianca will close her diary and sleep*

Greatness is the quality of being great and eminent. There are so many
great people in the world like Catherine the Great who was an empress
of Russia who had the longest reign of any female Russian leader. She
immensely expanded her country’s empire.

They’ve been all called the Great because they did something big in
their lives. They did something that not everyone can do.

But is that really how we measure the greatness of a person? Of how

big someone has done?

Kasi if that’s the basis of how great a man is, then we only have literally
few great people in this entire planet.

We live in a very busy world where social media has almost conquered
us people. There, we share moments, feelings, news, and many more.
One time, I was just scrolling through one of my social media accounts
then I saw a post that really moved me.
It was this video of a woman who is walking around the streets naked
and there are guys who are riding a motorcycle who stopped when they
saw her and handed her some clothes.

It just amazed me that there are still people who help others regardless
of their appearance or social status. That small act of kindness someone
has shared had a big impact on me.
And I think that is what greatness really is.
Big or small, what’s important is we’ve done something good, it’s
enough to call someone great. Because sometimes, those little things
that you did are the ones that really matter. We often don’t realize that
the little things are the big things.
