The New Foods I tried

By Little Sprouted Seeds

The New Foods I tried
This is a unit I created to teach kids about Fruits and Vegetables. Fruits and Vegetables are incredibly
important and under eaten in the American diet. Change is necessary for our children to become healthy
happy adults. As teachers we are responsible for our students from about 9am to 3pm. If there is a
morning program or an after-school program that the student participates in then, add more hours.
Teachers should provide good eating habits inside the classroom and good physical habits at recess.
Good nutrition goes beyond the cafeteria and should have a place in the classroom. Physical activity
should not be solely for recess and the too few days our children receive gym classes.

This is a hand-out that can be given as suggested homework or can be used in the classroom as a
group teaching aid. As teachers we should not only educate children on math, social studies, and
English but on good fruits and vegetables because good foods make up a healthy person.

Here is a sample of the unit I created. If you like it you can find the extended version at my store. It as
ideas on lessons, group snack-time ideas, more calendar foods I tired, and resources.
Little Sprouted Seeds
Thank You so much for downloading this lesson or worksheet. Education as you know is very
important for our society’s continuing evolution. Our children are the ones who will eventually grow
and thrive with the knowledge they learn from their teachers. It is our job to plant the seeds of
knowledge and they will grow those seeds into strong ideas.

Here is a blank sheet that you can print-off as many times as you would like and add your own fruits or veg. They can also be sent home so
parents can find and fill. Not every supermarket will carry some fruits like passion fruit (s) while others will. Some are too expensive like grapes,
while mangos are very affordable.
