Extracurricular Experience

Describe the activities you have participated in. These might include sports, ASB, clubs, theater,
church groups, or other organized activities outside of regular school hours.
Help set up and wait tables for Rotary Crab Feed. Helped fabricate the Rotary Citrus Fair
exhibit. Helped clean up/remove the Rotary Citrus Fair exhibit. Sonoma County Film
Society, Cloverdale Theater, I assisted in preparing and cleaning the grounds and theater
for private viewings. October Fest, Courtney's Pumpkin Patch, I moved pumpkins and sold
tickets. Cloverdale regional library, I moved books out of storage. Russian River clean up, I
picked up garbage in the river bed. Jefferson Fair, I made snow cones, for two hours
straight.

On average, how many hours do you dedicate to your extracurricular life each week or month?
During a school week, 45 minutes were dedicated to the Rotary/Interact Club by High
School participants. In addition to service-learning hosted by the club.

Have you enjoyed your extracurricular experiences so far? Why or why not?
I have enjoyed doing my community service through the Rotary/Interact Club. It has
provided a varied way to spend service learning hours in a diverse environment. Working
with fellow students has made the whole ordeal much more satisfying and comfortable.

What kinds of soft skills, academic skills, and/or specialized training have you needed to use to
participate fully in these experiences?
While I haven’t received any academic or specialized training, a number of soft skills have
been exercised. Communication, group organization, and time management are the most
common soft skills of my service learning.

How might these skills be used in a career or college environment?

These skills are invaluable in a student’s different social and communicative roles. That is
any job that requires one to collaborate with another human being.

What has learned about yourself so far by participating in extracurricular activities?

I learned that I not only enjoy assisting people in a casual manner, but also in a
professional capacity. That is that I may have a career interest in providing a service to
mankind in a directly positive manner.
