A 2.0 – Glass Policy

policy regarding glass is as follows:

This policy is applicable to all staff, our suppliers, and outside contractors entering our facility.
Glass containers or articles are not allowed in the production areas.
Ceramic coffee mugs are not allowed in the production areas.
At present we can find glass in the lunchroom windows, sales and main office windows and
door, Warehouse windows, forklift headlights, washrooms mirrors and as lights in the production
rooms and shipping and receiving area. These lights are plastic coated and hence are shatter
proof. Glass windows in the mentioned areas are known and do not cause any hazard. Few
employees for vision also wear glasses and if any glass breaks, following steps to be followed:

If glass breaks, all employees MUST:

Isolate the area.
Stop production in the area and report the breakage to production supervisor and HACCP
Coordinator immediately.
Any exposed product in the area must be discarded.
The broken glass is to be cleaned up by vacuum.
If production equipment is involved, it needs to be washed then re-inspected prior to
commencing production.
Anyone involved in the clean up must change his or her clothing.
Personnel involved in the incident must fill out a Corrective Action Report.
If the broken glass resulted in injury the accident must be reported to Production Supervisor.

Broken glass is physical hazard because a metal detector cannot detect it and it is very hard to
see in the product. Given the potential hazard associated with glass breakage, it is imperative that
all employees follow these procedures and that every precaution is taken to ensure that glass does
not enter our products.
