I. Analysis of The Disadvantages of High School Laboratorium Manual
The practicum guide we will look for weaknesses is the class XI practicum guide on
chemical equilibrium material entitled the effect of changes in pH and temperature of the solution
to the equilibrium reaction system. In this practicum guide, core competency (KI) has been
fulfilled but the basic competency has not been fulfilled because this practicum guide only
discusses the change in pH and temperature of the equilibrium reaction system while the basic
competency (KD) to be achieved is to analyze the factors that influence shifts the direction of
equilibrium that is applied in industry and determines the quantitative relationship between
reagents and the reaction results of an equilibrium reaction. In terms of language eligibility is good
because in this guide uses language that is adjusted to the level of understanding of students. In
terms of presentation of this practical guide is not good, because the presentation is less able to
improve the skills of students. The presentation in this guide is too monotonous. Likewise with the
attractiveness of this guide, because this guide is quite monotonous, making students less interested
in carrying out practicum.

Topic : Chemical Equilibrium

Title : Effect of pH and temperature in Chemical equilibrium
Class : XI
Semester : Odd

Core Competence / C-4

Processing, reasoning, presenting, and creating in the realm of the realm and the realm related to
the development of what is taught in the school automatically and acting effectively and creatively,
and being able to use methods according to scientific rules.
Basic Competence / B-4.3
Understanding sub-chapter important materials that will be explained like dynamic equilibrium,
shift of equilibrium direction, and equilibrium constants on Kc and Kp.

I. Objective :
1. Students are able to observe reactions in equilibrium
2. Students are able to observe the effect of temperature on equilibrium reactions

II. Theory :
Chemical reactions can take place in one direction if the reaction only produces a product
and cannot be converted back into its reactants and can also take place both directions if the
reaction product can simultaneously act as a reactant to reproduce the reactants involved at
the beginning of the reaction. If an action (disturbance) is given to a reaction equilibrium
system, the equilibrium system will minimize the effect of the action by shifting the direction
of the reaction. The disruption can be in the form of changes in the number of products and
reactants, system pressure, or changes in temperature.
III. Tools and Materials:
1. Tools
No Name of Tools Size Quantity
1 Erlenmeyer
2 Drop pipette
3 Beaker glass
4 Waterbath

2. Materials:
No Name of Materials Concentration Phase Color Quantity
1 Potassium chromate
2 Chloride acid
3 Sodium hydroxide
4 Cooper (II) sulphate
5 Sodium chloride crystal
6 Ice

IV. Procedure :
A. Equilibrium reactions in different pH
- Enter 25 ml of potassium chromate solution into the Erlenmeyer flask
- Add hydrochloric acid dropwise until the color changes in the potassium chromate
solution in the erlenmeyer flask
- Observe the changes that occur. After the change occurs, then add dropwise drop of
natroum hydroxide until the color changes in the solution as before
B. Effect of temperature on equilibrium
- Enter 50 ml of Cooper (II) Sulphate solution into a beaker and add 2.5 grams of
sodium chloride crystal
- Observe the color of the solution
- Heat the CuSO4 - NaCl mixture in a water bath
- Observe the color of the solution when heating
- Prepare crushed ice cubes in a large beaker containing a little water
- Soak the beaker containing the CuSO4 and NaCl solution into the beaker containing
ice
- Observe the changes that occur

V. Result and Discussion

VI. Question
1. What the meaning of equilibrium reaction?
2. Write down the reaction that happen in each treatment!
3. Base on your experiment, how the effect of temperature to the equilibrium?
4. Why the results obtained in the two trials were different?
