What is ORTHOTICS?

The field of Orthotics is the profession of providing or managing the provision of a custom-designed, fabricated, modified
and fitted external device to a patient based on clinical assessment and a physician's prescription for the purpose of
restoring the physiological function and/or cosmesis of the patient by an allied health professional who is specifically
trained and educated.

ORTHOSIS
is the appliance. Also termed as splint, caliper, brace as well.

ORTHOTIST
A professional trained & expert in designing, prescribing, and fabrication of Orthosis. An

orthotist is having a BSc. degree in Orthotics Prosthetics and accredited by National &

International Licensing authorities. Certified Orthotist are abbreviated as CO.
