3. Getting more pleasure in doing than being in the will of God
‘The real need that we in the crisis pregnancy ministry must focus on is knowing
Christ, not changing behavior.
‘Acts 26:18: (our mission the same as the Apostle Paul’s) ‘.. to open their eyes,
so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God,
that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are
sanctified by faith in me”
Satan often wants us to focus on religion, so that our relationship with God
suffers‘The Reality of Satan
CS. Lewis, The Serewtape Letters
‘Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one--the gentle
slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without
milestones, without signposts.
“Whatever their bodies do affects their souls. It is funny how mortals always
picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by
keeping things out...”
Be an Apollos - Acts 18
‘Verse 27- help greatly new believers: ‘And when he wanted to go across to
‘Achaia, the brethren encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to weleome him;
and when he had arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace
Verse 28 - for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the
Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ
Challenge for us: speak with the power of the Holy Spirit and focus the message

‘This is a prayer for YOU!
Psalm 19:13-14: Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them
not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great
transgression, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be
acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.
‘The Word of God (the Bible) is more important than..
Knowledge , because it leads to wisdom; Discipline, because it leads to self-
control; Self-motivated choices, because it speaks fo the human conscience
1Speaking to the Heart / Acts 24:25: These three God
1) Righteousness 2) self-control 3) judgment ro come
“But as he (Paul) was discussing righteousness, self-control and the judgment to
come, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for the present, and when I find
time I will summon you.”
Workshop Summary: Often as a pregnancy help center director, we are
challenged to broaden our services rather than deepen our focus on Christ. The
goal in this workshop is to see the value of transformation over reformation.
Acts 26:18: ‘.to open their eyes so that they may tum from darkness to light and
from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and
an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.””
Satan often wants us to focus on religion, so that our relationship with God suffers.
Paul, in Acts 26:18 uses bold contrasts because Satan’s ‘focus’ is polar opposite
the focus we should have, especially in the pregnancy ministy.
1. Closed eyes Opened eyes
2. Darkness Light
3. Dominion of Satan Dominion of God
4. Condemnation Forgiveness of sins
John 3:17-18
For God did not send the Son into
Ephesians 2:8-9
the world to judge the world, but
that the world might be saved
through Him. '¥ He who believes
in Him is not judged; he who does
not believe has been judged already,
because he has not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God.
For by grace you have been
saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves, it is the gift of
God; not as a result of works, s0
that no one may boast.5. Poverty Inheritance
6. Degradation Sanctification
Growth in holiness. How? By
continual faith and trust in His
finished work on the cross
Falling deeper into layers of
sin. How can they get out? By
just trying harder?
At the pregnancy center, some refuse to abort after visiting us, but they're still lost,
exchanging one sin for another.
Satan doesn’t mind if we pursue reformation — because he knows it’s a bottomless
pit. Satan fears transformation, because He knows the power of God.

(073) 399-8378When Dwight L. Moody was in London during one of his famous
evangelistic tours, several British clergymen visited him. They wanted to
know how and why this poorly educated American was so effective in
winning throngs of people to Christ.
‘Moody touk the thnce men to the window of his hotel room and asked each in
‘turn what he saw. One by one, the men described the people in the park
below.
‘Then Moody looked out the window with tears rolling down his checks.
“What do you see, Mr. Moody?” asked one of the men.
“L see countless thousands of souls that will one day spend eternity in hell if
they do not find the Savior.”
Obviously, D. L. Moody saw people differently than the average observer
does. And because he saw eternal souls where others saw only people
strolling in a park, Moody approached life with a different agenda.
Is this your agenda as well? Do you see people this way? If you do, you’ ll
seek opportunities to reach souls for Christ, pethaps through the ministry of

17PEOPLE NEED THE GOSPEL
> People don’t need reformation, but transformation. ‘But a natural man does
not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he
‘cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.’ ef: 1 Corinthians
1:30 ESV ‘And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom
from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,’ I Corinthians 2:
ASV
> People don’t need our “clever speech”, they need the gospel ‘For Christ did
not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, 50
that the cross of Christ would not be made void.” I Corinthians 1:17 NASV
> People don’t need to see our power, but God’s ‘For the word of the cross is
folly to those who are perishing, but to ns who are being saved it is the power of
God. I Corinthians 1:18 ESV
> People don’t need signs and wisdom, they need to hear about ‘Christ
‘crucified? ~ the gospel narrative ending with the Resurrection. ‘Jews demand
miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified:
stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has
called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For
the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is,
stronger than man’s strength. ‘I Corinthians 1:22-23 NIV

23Dwight L. Moody Preacher, evangelist and publisher
Born February 5, 1837, Northfield, Massachusetts Died December 22, 1899
During the early days of the ministry of Dwight L. Moody, the great evangelist
launched a series of meetings in Chicago with promise of the largest crowds that
he had ever addressed up to that time. He was speaking on the life of Christ, and on
the first Sunday night, October 8, 1871, he took as his topic the trial of Chirist
before Pilate. As he came to the end of his message, he tuned to Matthew 27:22,
“What shall I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ?"
He concluded, I wish you would take this text home with you and then turn it over
‘in your minds during the week, and next Sunday we will come to Calvary and the
cross, and we will decide what to do with Jesus of Nazareth."
It may have been an artistic device. But speaking of it in later years, Moody called
that conclusion to his moming’s address the greatest mistake in his life. Even while
‘Mr. Sankey was singing the final hymn: "Today the Savior calls; For refuge fly:
The storm of justice falls, And death is nigh’ the fire engines began to sound on the
street on their way as first responders to the great Chicago fire,
‘The hall where Moody was preaching was laid to ashes. It is estimated that over
‘one thousand persons lost their lives. Moody never saw that congregation again,
and some of those to whom he spoke on that night doubtless died in the
fire."Behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2). Adapted from "A
‘Treasury of Bible Illustrations" (AMG Publishers)
24Dwight L. Moody said that he made the greatest mistake of his life the night of
October 8, 1871, when the great Chicago fire nearly destroyed the entire
city. Among the hundreds who died were some who earlier had been in Moody's
audience.
{As you can well imagine, the evangelist was in deep grief over his tragic error in
failing to give his audience the opportunity to receive the Lord Jesus as Savior that
homible evening. “Now, whenever I preach,” Moody said later, “I press for a
definite decision. 1 would rather lose my right hand than give people even a day to
decide for Christ, for I don't know if Il ever see them again. The Gospel
invitation is a ‘today only” offer!”
Moody called it his “greatest mistake,” and it was clearly a tragedy for hundreds of
his listeners, but he allowed the Lord to use it to motivate the remainder of his life
and ministry.
‘We talked with an alcoholic here on the street who used to be a pastor. He had.
made some wrong decisions and mistakes in his life, but instead of asking God’s
forgiveness and help to rebuild his lif, he quit. And now his life is so mixed up
that it looks all but impossible. What about you today? No matter what mistakes
you've made, you CAN begin again.
‘And please help us share the gospel here on the streets, where we give people the
opportunity to receive the Lord Jesus TODAY. TODAY js the day of salvation!
http:/Avww.fim.org/news_events/media_center/take_3/20120327
‘After the fire, 125 hodies were recovered. Final estimates of the fatalities
ranged from 200-300, considered a small number for such a large fire
25Attitude toward sharing our faith from Romans 1
> Under obligation — Romans 1:14 —I am under obligation both to
Greeks and to barbarians, both to the
wise and to the foolish.
> Tam eager to preach — Romans 1:15 - So Iam eager to preach the
gospel to you also who are in Rome.
> Lam not ashamed of the gospel ~ Romans 1:16 - For | am not
ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who
believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
> Lunderstand that the gospel is the power ~ Romans 1:16 - For Iam
not ashamed of the gospel, for itis the power of God for salvation to
everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Luke 10:16 NLT ‘Then he said to the disciples, "Anyone who accepts your
‘message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And
anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me."”
2 Corinthians 2:14-17: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in
‘triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of
him everywhere. !° For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are
being saved and among those who are perishing, '° to one a fragrance from death
to death, to the other fagrance from life to ile. Who is sufficient for these
things? '” For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of
sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
Thessalonians 2:13-16 * For this reason we also constantly thank God that when
you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted if mot as the
‘word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its
work in you who believe, For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of
God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at
the hands of your own countrymen, even as they dil fiou the Jews, who both
killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to
God, but hostile to all men, hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they
may be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But
‘wrath has come upon them to the utmost.”
John 12:48 “The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge;
the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.”
