User Guide:

Pages (app)

Pages is Apple’s version of Word. It is a simple word processing/desktop-publishing

app for the IPad. If you have a student who needs extra support with literacy, this
could be combined with an accessible keyboard. For more info see our list of
accessible keyboards for the IPad.
To start, either tap the screen to
create a new document OR tap on
the ‘+’ button in the top left hand
corner.

Tap on the ‘+’ from the drop down

menu to create a new document.
There are a number of options to
start you off when creating a new
document.

Most likely, the best option is

‘Blank’.

If you wish to experiment with the

templates, click on the one you
want. Once opened you can delete
the text and replace it with your
own.

For this user guide, we will select

the ‘Blank’ option.
Once you have selected the ‘blank’ page, you will be taken
to the document as shown below.

• Find – find and replace words or phrases

within the document
• Change Tracking – The help menu states that
you can make and track changes with this
function. However, I haven't really seen the
benefit of this and it seems overly
complicated to use so you most likely will not
need to use this function!
• Document Setup – Set margins, headers,
footers and page size.
• Settings – options for tools to support writing
and layout of document (explored on next
page)
• Set Password – Set a password for the
document. This could be helpful if more than
one student is using the IPad.
• Print – Print options. You need to have
wireless or air printing set up.
• Help – Help and support in using the app.
Spell checker – will highlight mistakes and suggest
alternative spellings. Very basic.
