Mussels that live in coastal areas near tin mining sites can provide information about environmental pollution levels. Their soft tissues accumulate contaminants from waste dumped into the sea from mining operations and other sources. Analyzing the soft tissues of mussels from Kundur Island, a tin mining location in Indonesia, can reveal whether waste entering the waters is decreasing fishermen's catches and harming the environment.

Kundur island is one of the tin mining sites
in indonesia. Waste of tin mining process have dumped in to the sea and causing a decrease in fishermen’s catch on kundur island.
Mussels have habitat in coastal area they are sessile filter
feeder that is potentially affected by waste dumped into the sea. Soft tissue on mussels can be used to figure out the environmental pollution caused sewage to the sea.
