Reflection Journal #3

What are some fears and/or concerns and/or challenges I have about teaching on-line? What

are some excitements and/or aha-moments I have had about teaching on-line?

After watching a couple of zoom classes some of my biggest concerns or fears would be

not being able to keep the student’s attention as well as not being able to effectively teach

them. I feel like children work best when they are in an environment that supports and creating

the best possible learning outcomes. Unfortunately, in our homes, there are a lot of distractions

for the children to get carried away with. Today in our zoom meeting, I noticed that students

were jumping around or more focused on their siblings then they were on the lesson. I feel like

if I couldn’t keep their attention during the zoom meeting, would they be grasping the concept

of the lesson? These are the questions and concerns I have been trying to resolve since starting

the online teaching. On the other hand, I have seen how excited the students have gotten to

see their friends and learn while still being at home. I do understand that online teaching can be

difficult at times, but I hope to find ways to keep the student’s attention as much as possible.
