Most of the people don't know where Greenland is located, they even

don't know that this country exists. Located in the continent of

North America,Greenland covers 2,166,086 square kilometers of

land, making it the 12th largest nation in terms of land area.

Greenland is a dependent territory of Denmark.

One of the reasons why US President Donald Trump wants to buy

Greenland it is because is a land rich in natural resources , the ice

cap in this place is melting and could reveal land rich in valuable

resources like gold, copper, diamonds, Olivier, marble, rubies and oil

could be under the ice cap in Greenland, and other reason is because
it is a large real estate deal, a lot of things can be done, like

buildings and companies can move over there and the companies can

have other opportunities to look for a new market.

It is not the first time, however, that the United States tries to

buy Greenland, an autonomous territory dependent on Denmark, a

country that transfers 60% of its annual budget and controls its

foreign and defense policy. The idea was considered since 1860 by

the President Andrew Johnson. A report from the State

Department of 1867 suggested that its strategic location, along with

the abundance of resources, made it an ideal acquisition.

Russia, China and the USA have a bigger interest in Greenland, not

only for the riches in her ground, they have been interesting for

example, in the north route, a commercial route between Pacific and

Atlantic oceans. This route brings great politics and economic

benefits. Besides, the USA haven't a naval base in the Arctic,

because he hasn't any political control in this territory, but China

had been trying to buy a military base of USA, and build three
airports. The disappearance of the ice layer has been open new

maritime roads, and this causes the importance of control Greenland.
