For products treated with

Protectol CX™ Type A Wood Preservative

o The corrosivity of Protectol CX™ Type A treated wood is similar to CCA Type
C treated wood. At a minimum, hot-dip galvanized products conforming to
American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) Standards should be used.
Specifically, fasteners must be in compliance with ASTM A153, and sheet
products with ASTM A653, Class G-185. For optimum performance, stainless
steel fasteners of Type 304 or 316 are recommended for all products treated
with Protectol CXTM Type A.

o Other fasteners, hardware, or metal products may be acceptable as

recommended by the individual manufacturers. Please contact the specific
manufacturer to determine whether a product is approved for use with
ProtectolTM CX Type A treated wood.

o Electroplated galvanized fasteners are typically not accepted by the building

codes for use in exterior applications, regardless of the type of wood used.

o Do not use aluminum in direct contact with products treated with Protectol
CXTM Type A.
