Rajesh is on leave from his MBA course and he is visiting his parents who
operate a small bed and breakfast hotel. In the hotel there are 10 guests who
have ordered 50 pairs of toast bread. Rajesh has a cassette-deck type toaster
that can toast two slices at a time. Each slice must be toasted for exactly 20
seconds before it is taken out.
Rajesh is contemplating when he must get up if he has to deliver these 50 pairs
of toasts at 7.00 am. Given below is a sequence of operations with the duration
for each operation.
a) Assuming that Rajesh can not open or close both the doors simultaneously
with two hands, can you suggest a better way of finishing the job in less than 40
minutes?
b) Assuming that Rajesh can open or close both doors simultaneously and
place or remove two slices using both his hands, what is the best you think
Rajesh can do?
