FAMILY HEROES

Hebrews 11:7,23

7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family…
23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and
they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.
31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.
32 And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and
Samuel and the prophets,
33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths
of lions,
34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and
who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.
35 Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released
so that they might gain an even better resurrection.
36 Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.
37 They were put to death by stoning;[e] they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in
sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—
38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the
ground.

Hebrews 11 talks about the hall of fame of people that God has listed. People with distinguish accomplishment and
astonishing results in the Kingdom by having faith in God.

It talks about Samson who slew the Philistines by faith, people like Gideon who has 300 men yet defeated 300,000
thousand army who came against the people of God.

It talks about Daniel who stopped the mouth of the Lions, people like David, who a 9-foot, 9 inch goliath and slew him.

Right in the middle of this roll call of these people who did amazing things for God,
HE LISTED THREE FAMILIES:
- That didn’t do any do of those things;
- They didn’t conquer any lands or defeated any giants;
- They didn’t fight any battles and didn’t do anything significant
“Yet God said, THEY DESERVE TO BE IN MY HALL OF FAME.”

They are NOAH, RAHAB AND THE PARENTS OF MOSES

God said that I wanted these people to receive a HERO STATUS IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD, though they have not lifted
up any sword or thought about it. I want them to receive the HONOR IN MY HALL OF FAME.

And there’s only one reason why they were part of God’s Hall of Fame - THEY SAVED THEIR FAMILIES.

The most important thing that you need to know in this life is YOU ARE SAVED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS AND HIS
AMAZING GRACE.
… and the second is TO SAVE OUR FAMILY, not that we are taking credit of their salvation, but HELP OUR FAMILY BE
POINTED OUT IN THE DIRECTION OF CALVARY AND THE SON OF GOD; and LEAD THEM TO MAKE THAT DECISION TO
GIVE THEIR LIVES FOR JESUS CHRIST.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!

NOW LOOK AT THE LIFE OF RAHAB:

Rahab is the most shocking to see in God’s Hall of Fame as she was a PROSTITUTE.
The Bible said that Joshua sent out 2 spies in Jericho. They were being pursued and the king heard about it and was
trying to find them to kill them; and they hid in the house of Rahab.
Now, Rahab made a deal with them. I’ll hide you if you will make a deal with me.
“I’LL HIDE YOU IF YOU CAN ASSURE ME THAT I WILL BE SAVED AND I WANT MY FAMILY TO BE SAVED”

This is powerful and this is the reason why she is in the Hall of Fame because of these:
- I WANT TO KNOW THAT I AM SAVED IN ANYBODY THATGETS IN MY HOUSE WHEN YOU INVADE AND JUDGE
THIS SINFUL AND WICKED CITY;
- MY FAMILY IS SAVED

And the Bible says that she made that deal with God and she took it seriously…

… and she said, YOU KNOW WHAT I CAN’T SAVE THEM BUT IF I CAN GET THEM IN THE HOUSE , GOD SAID THAT HE
WOULD SAVE THEM.
… that I can’t stop judgement to come to their lives but if I can bring to the house, the church, God will save them.

It reminds me of the Philippian jailer in Acts 16:31, where Paul said, BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND YOU
SHALL BE SAVED AND YOUR HOUSEHOLD.

Sometimes, it’s not comfortable living for God…

Sometimes, it’s not convenient…
You’ll see their eyes rolling and probably saying that why am I here…
Sometimes, it’s convenient to bring your family in the house of God…
Sometimes, the bed feels so good…
Sometimes, you don’t feel like going to the church…
BUT THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT THIS STORY, THE STORY OF RAHAB, THE PROSTITUTE..

GOD SAID TO RAHAB, YOU KNOW WHAT, YOU ARE A FAMILY HERO BECAUSE YOU UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF
BEING IN CHURCH…

If there’s one thing I’d like to say to this generation, where you can see destruction every where, marriage being broken,
young people are getting into drugs and addiction, families going into something and families are being destroyed,
there’s one thing you can do that will make you a HERO, AND THAT IS TO KEEP YOUR FAMILY IN THE HOUSE OF GOD!

Don’t ask a 13 years old child, who doesn’t earn an opinion yet, whether or not, they want to go to church!
YOU GET THEM UP AND TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO THE HOUSE OF GOD!

They might go somewhere else but if you bring them to the church, they can’t get away with it, it will HUNT THEM
BECAUSE THE HOLY SPIRIT KNOWS HOW TO HUNT PEOPLE!

SO GET THEM IN THE CHURCH… THERE IS POWER IN THE CHURCH!

Sometimes, they’ll come here and they are sleepy and feeling like they don’t but it doesn’t matter!
Because the seed of the word is planted in their hearts and they will not depart from it!

For those who brought their family in the church, CONGRATULATIONS because you are a HERO TO YOUR FAMILY!

Rahab brought her family in the house and her family was saved!

What about NOAH?

Noah has 8 members in his household.

How did he save them? BY INVOLVING THEM IN THE WORK OF GOD!

In Genesis 6-9, God told Noah to build an ARK and it took them 120 YEARS!

He decided not just to build the ark by himself, but to involve his family and children!

He told his children, you’re gonna help me build this arc. You’re gonna be involved in work of God.

Noah built an atmosphere of building the work of God!

His three children were reared in an atmosphere of building and working on the boat!
They spent most of their time in the work of the Lord.
It has become natural for them that after school, they grab the hammer and go building the boat.
It has become part of their lifestyle to grab the tools and go to ark, which is the representation of the church, to get
involved.
When it’s time to get in love, they didn’t just look for any hochimama (a whore) or any woman who’s looking for text
mates and get along with a kalye serye, the aldub thing, to get married.

Do you know who they look for? They look for both building girls! They look for girls who are interested in building
the boat. Girls who are involved in the work of the Lord because this is what we do.
BECAUSE THIS IS THE CULTURE OF OUR FAMILY! WE ARE BOAT BUILDERS!

And when judgement comes, we have something that goes up!

And so we work in the church. We don’t just show up during Sunday church, WE WORK IN THE CHURCH!

THAT’S WHAT NOAH DID FOR 120 YEARS!

Listen to them people, there is not greater call in this world but the CALL TO SERVE GOD AND THE CHURCH!

Education is important but it’s not as important as to serving the Lord.

Work is good but not a good as your calling in God.
House is good but there is no better place than the presence of God!

Lastly, THE PARENT OF MOSES

The Bible says that they were not afraid to hide Moses from the Egyptians.
In other words, they were not intimidated to hide Moses from Pharaoh and from the Egyptian system that wanted to
destroy the destiny of Moses.

“INNOCENT is a very precious thing in a child’s life.”

I know that one day, they’ll be exposed to the internet, to pornography, to college life, to party and sexual temptation in
the world.
BUT AS LONG AS YOU CAN, THERE IS WISDOM AS A PARENT IN HIDING YOUR CHILD. KEEPING THEM AND KNOWING
WHO THEY ARE SURROUNDED, KNOWING WHO THEIR FRIENDS ARE, KNOWING WHERE THEY ARE!

I don’t care if their friends think I am a freak. I can care less. I don’t care and I’m not intimidated to hide my children,
my family.
Listen to this. You can never hide them for the rest of your life.
They will soon be exposed to the University of Egypt and will see the corruption of the system
but as long as I can hide them, I will hide them… As long as they are in my house, I will hide and protect and direct
you!

PROTECT THEM! SHIELD THEM FROM FILTHY WORDS! SHIELD THEM FROM PORNOGRAPHY!
PROTECT THEM FROM WRONG INFORMATION FROM THE TELEVISIONS, FROM WRONG CHANNELS THAT WILL TAKE
AWAY THEIR INNOCENCE!
SHIELD THEM FROM FILTHY MUSIC!

Don’t ask them to turn off the radio. Shut it off!

LET US BE HEROES IN OUR FAMILIES!

Story: RICHARD AND RICKY HOYT (CAN - Ironman)

Ricky is a very intelligent person with above average intelligence.

One day, he saw this marathon and told his dad, who is 59 years old with a heart condition, through the computer that if
he would be push to join this marathon, he would feel like he’s not a handicapped anymore when I crossed the finished
line. He told his dad that they’ll do it for their handicapped neighbour!

They started training and then find his son enjoying it and then signed him up for another marathon until they join the
IRONMAN in Hawaii. This is the biggest race.

Let me tell you what IRONMAN consist!

1. SWIMMING for 2.5 miles across the pacific ocean

2. CYCLYING for 112 miles through the hills of Hawaii.
3. MARATHON RACE for 26.2 miles.

Listen to this, that son is the same as us. We are crippled. We can’t make it to the finish line. We have a devastated life.
God we have a great daddy! We pushes us and treated us and make us capable of getting to the finish line!
