FEAR FIGHTERS

“If you can’t conquer your fear, it will conquer you” –Ps. Jentenzen Franklin

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

2,000 different kinds of fears according to psychology. These are all learned fears.

But you are born for 2 fears.

1. Fear of being dropped

2. Fear of Loud noise

But today, let me tell about of the fear fighters in the Bible and his name is Benaiah

2 Samuel 23:20-23

20 Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, performed great exploits. He struck down Moab’s two
mightiest warriors. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. 21 And he struck down a huge
Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear
from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear. 22 Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada; he
too was as famous as the three mighty warriors. 23 He was held in greater honor than any of the Thirty, but he was not
included among the Three. And David put him in charge of his bodyguard.

Benaiah was chasing a lion on a snowy day.

#1 Normal people don’t chase lions.

If you wanna chase a lion, you have to do it on a weather advantage, not a a snowy day where you can slip

There is something about opportunity.

You can’t determine when opportunity comes. Most of the time, it comes on a snowy day.

Benaiah was tracking a lion, he went down to the pit and killed the lion.

Benaiah confronted his fear. He knows that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. If I will not kill this
lion, it will continue to chase me.

2 Samuel 23:23
“And David put him in charge of his bodyguard…”

Try to imagine David was looking into the resumes as he was looking for someone who will become a chief bodyguard.
1. I graduated from the security college of Israel – didn’t pass
2. I had a 3 year experience as a guard palace – didn’t pass
3. I worked for the Brinx Armored chariots for three years in a row. I think I am qualified.
4. He looked at the last resume and it says, I am Benaiah and I fell on the pit and killed a lion on a snowy day
because that how I roll.
Take a look at this: If he has not confronted his fear, he wouldn’t have the opportunity to become a chief bodyguard of
David. Now if you follow the life of David, he had a son, whose named is Solomon, who made Benaiah captain of all the
armies of Israel.

Now, it all started with one man who confronted his fear and if he wouldn’t have confronted his fear, God wouldn’t have
released him to his destiny, his assignment, his mission.

“Your greatest opportunity will always double as your scariest, meanest lion.”

Every time God will bring an opportunity in your life, you’re going to make a choice,
… Am I gonna let my fear hold me back?
… Am I not going to try out for the team because I’m gonna fail?
… Am I not gonna stand up for Christ?
… Am I gonna be ashamed because someone is gonna laugh at me?

“God-given opportunities are God’s gift to you. What you do with them is your gift back to God”

I thought about this in my own life. One thing is always connected to another.
When Benaiah was fighting the lion, he didn’t know that he will be raised up in one day to be the body guard of king
David.
It was linked to one man overcoming his fear.

“I believe every one of you have been through what you’ve been through to make you stronger.”

God wants to challenge us today!

Out of your comfort zone!
Out of the place where there is no risk, where there is no chance for failure!

It maybe that you are the next Benaiah for this generation!
It maybe that God is wanting to raise up your voice to sing but you gonna get out of your fear. You gotta resist of not
wanting to try.

There is only one occasion in the Bible where we are commanded to fear.

“As a matter of fact, there are about 365 times God says fear not in the Bible!”

One place in the Scripture where we are said to fear. In Luke , the 12 th chapter, where Jesus commanded us to fear.

5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say
unto you, Fear him.

There is a fear that we are supposed to have and that is to fear the one who can cast us into hell.
I believe that this is not God, but the devil, who comes to steal, kill and destroy.

Jesus taught us three things about fear

1. Hell is a place of outer darkness.

That means that there is no light. It’s no darkness. Why there is no light because God is not there!
People in hell wish for a day to hear a sermon. They wish for a day where there is light!
The Bible says that worms will feed on you. Every demon that you entertain in this world will eat you up!
That’s Jesus said, fear this!
2. Hell is a place of fire.
The smoke of their torment ascends forever and forever and forever.
If we can just hear
