Problem Identification:
Determine the Aerodynamic Drag ( aerodynamic drag is the fluid drag force that acts on any
moving solid body in the direction of the fluid freestream flow) in a short time because the
conventional method to finds drag is high time taking at least four to five days.

Solution:
We can reduce this four to five days time span required to measure aerodynamic drag in just
four to five minutes by using the computational program that will help to detect the best
suitable aerodynamic drag.

Target Market:
All the automobile industry who design new models of cars every year and spent a lot of time to
make car aerodynamically stable.

Progress:
We have a library of 894 cars models this library includes all basic information that requires to
train the machine learning tools. We require at least 900+ car models library so we are working
on it.

Research:
We are working on the concept of Learning Three-Dimensional Flow for Interactive
Aerodynamic design proposed by Japnese researcher Nobuyuki Umetani.

Summary:
Aerodynamic drag is the main factor that affects the performance of the vehicle; it can be
defined as the force opposite to the direction of motion that acts on a body moving through air.
This project aims to evaluate the potential of using Machine learning (ML) to support concept
phase decisions to lower the aerodynamic drag exerted on the body when moving on the road.
With the use of computer scripts, the relevant measurement data is extracted from
repositories/libraries and is used; which can identify different parameters that are involved in
making the car much more stable at high speeds and lowering the drag coefficients.
Data will be taken from several car models of different categories i.e. Small cars, Sedan
and Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to train Machine Learning (ML) tools, this configuration
will be used in predicting parameters affecting the drag force acting on the vehicle body. A
ranking procedure that may make it possible to reduce the order of concept decision space is
also proposed. After several vehicle families went through this prediction phase, a clustering of
vehicle classes may allow for prediction and optimization of new families, if errors due to
assumptions and underlying mathematics are quantified.
The final values obtained will be used to run computational analysis on ANSYS and if
needed the values will be calibrated to meet the requirements and results. A good agreement
between data obtained from Machine Learning and Computational analysis will suggest the
reliability of this project.
