Abstract
With the wide application of finite element technology, there are also many new
technologies in elevating fire trucks. Through my research, I have summarized the
application of finite element analysis method in elevating fire trucks in recent years,
and analyzed the technical problems of application in key parts of the body. New finite
element analysis techniques such as ANSYS and AMEsim are introduced in the paper,
and some technical issues in the finite element analysis process are also introduced.
This has a great impact on the application of finite element technology in elevating fire
trucks.

1 Introduction
Elevating fire trucks play a significant role in urban firefighting. There are many
high-rise buildings erected in big cities. When there is a fire in the high-rise, the
elevating fire truck will quickly complete the fire-fighting task with its flexibility and
speed. The schematic diagram of the elevating fire truck is shown in Figure 1. With the
development of elevating fire trucks in China, many international advanced
technologies have also been applied to the design of elevating fire trucks, such as finite
element analysis technology. It can analyze the three-dimensional model of the vehicle
before production, and analyze its operating status and safety. This paper will introduce
the successful cases of the current finite element analysis technology applied to the
lifting fire truck, and summarize the finite element analysis and optimization method.

2 Findings
Cranes are also a type of lifting vehicles, AMESim finite element simulation
technology has been well applied in cranes, the vibration analysis of the whole vehicle
is carried out for the four random road spectra of ABCD, and the influence of different

3
apertures on the vibration of the whole vehicle is analyzed. This method innovatively
proposes a simulation analysis method to simulate the actual road spectrum,
experiments have confirmed the effectiveness of the method.
Using the finite element analysis software ansys is also a very good choice. As the
most widely used finite element analysis software at present, it is used in the elevating
fire trucks. The visual analysis interface can quickly see the analysis results under
different working conditions. When the boom is lifted to the highest position, it is at the
limit position, and the vehicle has a maximum load requirement. Ansys software can
help analyze this limit condition.
According to the analysis results, targeted structural optimization can be carried
out, and the optimized secondary analysis can be carried out for the weak parts. At the
same time, there is an option to automatically propose optimization suggestions in the
finite element analysis software, which can provide some optimization ideas, but this
method cannot be relied on, because many times the software will not be connected
with the actual situation.

3 Discussion
New finite element analysis techniques such as Ansys and AMEsim have been
widely used in elevating fire trucks. In simulating real-world conditions, the finite
element analysis technique shows excellent advantages. It can assign material
properties to the 3D model before product production, and simulate the actual working
conditions to apply force to the model, and finally simulate the complete analysis result
and show it to the designer through a visual interface. This method greatly reduces the
design cost, and can make multiple modifications to the designed product until the
simulation results are satisfactory, and then carry out experimental verification. This
reduces a lot of the design process in the design, and the optimization process based on
the analysis results can also make designers feel that their products are safe and reliable.
Due to the limited application of finite element analysis technology in lifting fire
trucks, many technologies are not shown in this type of products. When introducing
these technologies, this paper only introduces them based on the existing literature, and
there are still many excellent technologies in this field that have not been mentioned.

4 Conclusion
Finite element analysis technology has been greatly developed in China, and this
technology has a good prospect in the application of elevating fire trucks. At present,
finite element analysis technologies based on Ansys and AMEsim are widely used, and

4
have achieved good results in the stability and safety simulation of elevating fire trucks.
In the future, there will be more content in the field of finite element analysis that
can be studied in depth. For example, the combination of advanced mathematical
algorithms can more accurately find the maximum optimization value, so that materials
and structures can exert the maximum effect, and improve the overall reliability of the
product. This will greatly improve the analysis efficiency.

5 Recommendation
When performing Ansys finite element simulation, other 3D software can be used
to build the model and then import it into the Ansys preprocessing interface. The
preprocessing module DM that comes with Ansys software may cause partial
incompleteness of the model and should be adjusted in time.
In the post-processing interface, the topology optimization function should pay
attention to the accuracy. The software often does not consider the actual operation of
the product, and there may be an incorrect optimization plan. At this time, the analyst
should make adjustments based on experience.
