through in this pandemic. As we all know the pandemic struck unexpectedly and having online
resources for many students and children is a necessity. Even before the pandemic STAND for
Children has always had the goal to ensure children are being given the best education they can
get. This includes all children no matter race, zip code, disability or language. This extends ages
from preschoolers to high school students that will be having a career or going into college.
The Organization Stand for Children is a non-profit organization seeking to help all students
succeed. It is an advocacy group which advocates for students to have access to valuable
education. STAND was founded in 1996 by founder Jonah Edelman. This came when there was
a march for children's education. This non-profit organization focuses on partnering with parents
of students to support their children's education and journey as well as becoming strong
advocates.
Along with that they are advocates on the local and state level for policies and funding to help
students reach goals and milestones such as reading fluently by the third grade, and graduating
high school to reach a career or go to college. This non-profit also focuses on fighting for the
rights of students and for changes they are pushing for to reach classrooms and students. They
also fight to elect candidates committed to fighting for an equal education system for all children
and to give them all a chance to succeed. This mainly focuses on children and people/ candidates
that will ensure the public education system works for all children.
STAND for children is not on the side of politics but is instead on the side of students who are in
desperate need for education. The lack of education is a stressing situation especially now in this
pandemic. When I say it sides with students is when they choose candidates they do not care if
they are republican or democrat, what STAND cares for is that they all believe that children have
the right to education and fulfilling the needs to get education to all children regardless of where
The cultural diversity this non-profit has is amazing, STAND does not discriminate as they
include all children into their efforts. It does not matter the zip code, skin color or language, what
matters to STAND is the quality education they want students to receive. STAND advocates for
the past twenty plus years for better and equal education as no child should be left behind. With
their pillars, parents, politics, and policy. When it comes to politics, as stated before, STAND
When it comes to civic engagement STAND for children pushes hard for all children to get
access to quality education. This was the basis of it when it was founded in 1996. Over the years
education has improved but it has not improved like many have wanted to. Some schools even
here in Arizona fail to provide the proper education and what STAND does is fight for the
children to receive quality education as they are the leaders of tomorrow. STAND wants all that
they have fought for to reach the classes and support and benefit the students. They do not want a
confirmation letter saying things have been done but they want results.
The identity of this organization is it has people that are parents. STAND understands that
children need a good education because it is what makes leaders but keeps society very well and
sets an example. This non-profit organization wishes not to see any child left behind because of
lack of education but instead wishes to see children of all ages and color to succeed. We are all in
this together.
Since 1999 Stand has had victories of better education on education investments as well as a
leveraging over 6.7 for the deserved education for children. As for the political side of the stand,
in 1996 parents and the community rallied in order to fight to have better education for children
so as to improve their lives and not be left behind like in the past decades. As for the
Psychological dimensions education has been proven to improve a child's life and ability to
understand that is why Stand wants all children to receive quality education so as to eliminate
any child struggling in the future because of the lack of education given. It is not the child's fault
that at times education can be of low quality that is why Stand advocates for quality education.
As we all have come to know recently red for ed became a huge political success as more
students will not receive more quality education. Red for Ed has the same goal as Stand and
Stand is based in some states while Red for Ed is nationwide as it caught the attention of the
entire nation throughout the news. The nature of my Identity of a once underserved student
resonates with what STAND is trying to accomplish nationwide and that is to give quality
education to all children. I had to move from a school to receive better education as the school I
attended in 2009 was not the best and lacked many resources as well as quality education. On the
ratings it has now it scores a mere 2/10 and that is even after a decade of after me being there. I
will not name said school so as not to tarnish the little reputation they have and to not be accused
of defamation. Little has been done to provide quality education and unfortunately it is in an area
of underserved individuals. STAND wants to change that and have all schools provide quality
education.
As said before their identity is shared with many who are like me that received low quality
education and there are others who do not wish to see more children receive low quality
education but instead higher quality education. The Community, STAND as well as I Edgar
Ortega wish to see more children receiving higher quality education as this means a better life for
children. We can not forget about abusive homes as well that can also deter the children from
properly learning but STAND strives to provide the same quality education availability to all
Through constant social and political engagement STAND has provided many children the
quality education. When it comes to politics they seek only candidates who are concerned about
education and want to improve the education system by implementing new policies. They also
strive to see the actual effort out in as well as seeing results. Through partnership with parents
and schools STAND is able to provide this quality education they have always fought for since
1996 .
Their mobilization is shown in the victories throughout states and the 6.7 billion for education
they have fought and given back to the underserved children in communities for better education.
What once was a rally for better education transformed to an idea for better education. This then
turned into a fulfillment of a non profit being founded and led to providing better education for
children and Arizona children are fortunate to have this organization by their side. As well as
having the community and parents be advocates to have the voices of children heard for better
education.
To conclude, it is known that STAND is a non profit organization that seeks for children to have
better education. STAND does it by advocating but also partnering with parents to have their
children's voices heard. STAND has been outstanding to families in need and it is diverse by
providing for the underserved regardless of zip code, skin color or language. Children have the
