The woman demands an explanation from Mr. Scobell for bringing her to meet him without breakfast and missing an important social engagement. She feels her pride and dignity have been offended by his changing plans and potential abandonment as he prepares to sail away without resolving their relationship or situation. The woman refuses to force herself upon him but insists he owes her clarity and respect as an English lady.

All of us are born innocent babies, ready to be shaped. But others
are reborn as a reaction to what we experience in life. Some of us grow stronger while other shrink in fear. And in this lowest moment, this is when we forge a new path in our future.
There are important moments in our lives where we must make a
choice. A choice to be good or a choice to be evil. If others follow, where will you lead them? To a better life or to a life that's only better for you? That's how heroes are made. They are the ones who devote themselves to others, wanting to change what is wrong and make things right.
Being a hero isn't easy. We might want to help others but
sometimes we are too weak and feel helpless at times. But the spirit must remain strong if we are to achieve a greater good.

In life, even small acts of kindness can create a hero. There
doesn't need to be a meteor falling toward your planet for a hero to emerge.
Even the smallest crisis can give us a chance to be a hero in the
lives of others. Her Tongue

Inconvenience! I haven't had any breakfast! And I had a most pressing
invitation to the Barringers'. They're quite the nicest people in Southsea--one meets everybody there. Instead of that you bring me over here on the distinct understanding that you intended--I don't understand your conduct, Mr. Scobell. Will you please give me some explanation of it? Surely, Mr. Scobell, you will not dare to leave me in this terrible uncertainty. Before you go on board we must please have a thorough understanding. Will you or will you not please give me some explanation of your conduct? Not that I wish to force myself upon you! Please don't think that. I could never stoop to make myself cheap to any man! I'm not driven to that necessity! No! No! A thousand times no! It's simply that my womanly pride and delicacy have been cruelly outraged. It's simply that I owe it to my sense of what is due to an English lady not to be dragged over from Southsea without any breakfast, and then made the sport of your caprice, while you sail off to Argentina, utterly oblivious of your honour, and of the woman you have entangled and deserted!
