Installing SPSS Statistics 21 for Windows

TO INSTALL SPSS STATISTICS 21:

1. Double-click the .exe file for SPSS Statistics 21.

Note: If you downloaded the software to your default download location, it should be accessible
at: C:\Users\[Your Name]\Downloads.

2. Wait while the files are extracted and the InstallShield Wizard is prepared.

3. Read the licensing information presented, and then click Next.

4. Select Single user license (I purchased a single copy of the product.), and then click Next.

5. Read the terms of the Software License Agreement, then select I accept the terms of the
license agreement and click Next.

6. Enter your customer information (name and organization) in the appropriate fields if you wish, and
then click Next.

Note: this is an optional step. You may leave the fields blank and just click Next to skip it.

7. Select any languages other than English in which you would like the product’s Help content to be
viewable, and then click Next.

Note: To select a language, click the icon next to the language name and then click This feature
will be installed on local hard drive.

8. Choose whether or not you wish to install JAWS for Windows screen-reading software, and then
click Next.

Note: JAWS for Windows is a program intended to assist users with impaired vision.

9. Click Next to install SPSS Statistics 21 to the default location on your computer
(C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\21).

Note: To install SPSS Statistics 21 to a location other than the default, click Change… and select
another installation location before clicking Next. However, it is recommended that you install to
the default location.

10. Click Install to begin the installation process.

When the progress bar is 100% full, your software will be installed.

Note: After installing SPS Statistics 21, you will still need to license it. See the following section for
licensing instructions.

TO LICENSE SPSS STATISTICS 21:
Note: The Product Authorization screen will launch automatically once the installation process is
complete, to prompt you to license your product. If you choose to skip it at that point, you can access it
later at through your Start Menu at: All Programs >> IBM SPSS >> IBM SPSS Statistics 21 License
Authorization Wizard.

1. Click Next to begin the license authorization process.

2. Select License my product now, and then click Next.

3. Enter your authorization code (obtained when you ordered the product) in the field beneath the
words Enter Code, and then click Next to license your product.
