Animals in the World’s Deserts

Even though you think that deserts have no live because


they look like awful places they are certainly populated by
hundreds of animal species. Deserts come in many ways
and can go from scorching hot to super cold.

MOHAVE DESERT
The Mojave Desert is an arid rain-
shadow desert and the driest desert in North
America. It is in the North American Southwest,
primarily within southeastern California and
southern Nevada, and it occupies 47,877 sq mi.
Small areas also extend into Utah and Arizona.
The life here is very diverse. You can find
animals like Bighorn sheep, Mojave Green
Snakes, Black-tailed Jackrabbits and many
others.

SAHARA DESERT
The Sahara is a desert located on the
African continent. It is the largest hot desert in
the world, and the third largest desert overall
after Antarctica and the Arctic. Its area of
9,200,000 square kilometers. You can find
living here desert horned vipers, arabian
camels, pronghorns and many others.

ANTARTICA DESERT
Antarctica is the coldest, windiest,
and most isolated continent on Earth, and is
considered a desert because its annual
precipitation can be less than 51 mm in the
interior. It's covered by a permanent ice
sheet that contains 90% of the Earth's fresh
water. Even though the extreme cold climate
you can find wildlife like emperor penguins,
albatross and seals.
