The Green family lives in flat ten. There are two children in the family, Ruth
and Brian. This evening, Ruth is at home. Her mum and dad are at the
cinema and her brother is at a karate class.
Ruth is in the living room watching TV. It is 9 o’clock. Suddenly Ruth hears a
noise outside her flat door. She turns off the TV and listens. Now she hears the
noise at the door of flat nine. The family in flat nine isn’t at home. Ruth calls
out, “Is anybody there?” but there is no answer. Ruth is scared. She goes to the
telephone and phones Andrew in flat eight.
