THE GRASSHOPPER
Not too long ago, a?er ge@ng home, I discovered a grasshopper. At first, I thought that the
liFle insect was trapped. It was between the refrigerator and the wall. I decided to help it
find a way out, but it didn’t want to leave. It stayed in the same place. At first, I couldn’t
sleep because of the sounds it made. A?er a few days I began to like it. I even felt sleepy
and relaxed when I listened to its nightly songs. Every night at eight o’clock, the liFle insect
began to sing. My family and I were very happy with this insect, as if it were a pet. But we
couldn’t understand how it could survive for more than thirty days without food or water.

One night, I was in bed trying to go to sleep. I heard some sounds coming from a large box
full of my school supplies. I got up to see what was in the box. I didn’t find anything at all. I
went back to bed, but the minute I lay down the noises began again. I got up again and
turned the light on. Guess what I saw? I saw my Ony friend. It was standing on an edge of
the window, just like it was waiOng for me to say goodbye. The grasshopper went away. I
sOll miss the sounds it made!
