Performance level to be Basic-high-superior.
assessed:
Purpose: The student will be able to describe an ancient civilization its process of growth. He/she will add
details such as people´s activities, places and current situation of it.

Basic-High-Superior performance level:

The students can talk about strengths and weakness in growing process and can say the contexts that
involved changes.

The student analyses different contexts where not only humans grow but also animals and plants. He/she
can recognize narrative texts and the uses.

The student shows contrast by using COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS BUT and YET, and CONJUNCTIVE
ADVERBS HOWEVER, NEVERTHELESS, NONETHELESS, so he/she can express main ideas and details. He/she
identifies some rules applied to vocabulary as COUNT and NON-COUNT NOUNS, and QUANTIFIERS. He/she
can exercise on these topics when he/she specifies information. The student knows he/she needs to use
PAST SIMPLE tense to talk about changes and growth; he/she can apply all its rules.

The student will choose a civilization and will describe its process of growth. He/she will add details such
as people´s activities, places and current situation of it.

The student recognizes historical contexts as a source of knowledge and language. He/she can use this
context to respond to personal experiences.

He/she presents his ideas in paragraphs coherently, with fair syntax and punctuation.

He/she has good pronunciation in oral texts, showing acceptable fluency and turn-taking.

He/she employs content or disciplinary lexicon, local and global cultural references, as well as non-
verbal aids: disguises, settings, illustrations, voice intonations, diverse sound effects and other any kind of
props.

Project title: Ancient civilizations.


General Objective:
1. To describe an ancient civilization using past simple.
2. To develop their writing skills as they learn about an ancient civilization by doing a research paper
of about 500 words.
3. To express target vocabulary related with culture and history.
4. To use past simple and time order expressions with proficiency.
5. To describe an event in past simple using vocabulary from the book.
Methodological objectives:

1. Getting in groups of 3 people.


2. choosing from a selection of civilizations.
3. selecting three primary aspects related to their civilization.
4. Crafting an artifact related to selected civilization.
5. producing a rough draft, three to four pages with timeline and peer edit. They will develop final
draft and check it for correct language mechanics.
6. Once the paper is completed they will do an oral presentation to their class using Google
Presentation with five slides dressed up with typical costumes of the civilization.

Language Skills to Develop:


Writing, language usage, vocabulary, speaking production and pronunciation.

Project Description: (All the activities done must be presented by groups 3)


1. choose from a selection of ancient civilizations.
2. come up with ten questions about their selected civilization to research.
3. select three primary aspects related to their civilization.
4. craft an artifact related to the selected civilization.
5. Write a draft, three to four pages with timeline and peer edit. Develop final draft and check it for
correct language mechanics.
6. Once the paper is completed they will do an oral presentation to their class using Google
Presentation with five slides dressed with typical costumes of the civilization.

Contents involved:
Simple past, regular and irregular verbs, culture vocabulary. Connectors, etc.
Evaluation Criteria:
This project will be evaluated according with four competences:
1. Technological Competence: Development of the whole task (oral and written review, support
material).
2. Scientific Competence: Use of language (grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, sentence markers).
3. Communicative Competence: Oral presentation in the classroom.
4. Human and Christian formation Competence: Punctuality, responsibility and respect.
Writing and Speaking rubrics are attached to this project explanation form to prepare and evaluate the
tasks.
