To Whom It May Concern,

As an experienced intermediate math teacher and a team leader, I have developed a passion and personal commitment to
helping my students’ and other teachers succeed. I feel that my experiences and background as an educator is a perfect
match for an administrative position in Pasadena Independent School District.

As a teacher leader, I contribute to the Professional Learning Community, and help create a successful math department
with new and experienced teachers on the team. The value I add to the Professional Learning Community is the ability
to schedule and lead meetings, provide ideas to the teachers, and delegate and assist with tasks whic h need to be
completed. As the PLC leader, I mentor new teachers with assistance in lesson planning, classroom management
techniques, and acclimating to the campus environment.

As a math teacher, I develop highly effective lesson plans, motivational exercises, and performance assessments. My
teaching style demonstrates dedication to fostering a positive learning environment to all students and maximizing
individual student performance. The accomplishment I'm most proud of in my teaching career is helping students, whom
others have given up on, turn themselves around and proceed to higher grade levels. I have received positive feedback
from parents and fellow educators alike for my abilities in the classroom.

I've gladly helped to improve campus test scores developing and utilizing data walls. This innovative idea is a way of
pinpointing and displaying SE data, collected through assessments, so that staff and students can see where growth is
needed, and celebrations are in order. After working through different models, I presented data walls to the staff with
various representations, so it may be adapted and implemented by classroom teachers of other content areas as well as
along with intervention and resource staff personnel.

I’ve had many other leadership opportunities: being the co-coordinate for the school’s annual carnival which brought in
$12,000 to the campus, created a campus wide student incentive program to encourage the use of Imagine Math,
sponsored the National Junior Honor Society, began a mentoring program for second year teachers, developed and lead
multiple staff developments, served on several committees on campus and in the district, and I’ve worked as a testing
coordinator for summer school. These activities have given me opportunities to work with others, become familiar with
Pasadena ISD procedures, and work in an administrative capacity.

I am confident that my background and relevant experience will be an asset to Pasadena ISD and I look forward to the
opportunity to discuss this position further. Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,
Michelle Wheeler
