1.1 Introduction of cutter master V6.x’s functions

This software can support plotting machines and printers, it is widely used for
commercial advertisements, printing, decorating and ornament, nameplates,
audience handout, and cards etc.
We hope that you can understand about the functions of cutter master V6.x. the
functions of the V6.x are as followings:
Completely new operational interface:
The completely new operational interface of Windows95/98, and convenient
shortcut keypad that make the operation much easier, with friend interface of
Chinese messages, the users can complete all operations such as modification,
edition and point modification without special training.
Various graphical library:
There are more than ten thousand graphics in this graphical library, at the same
time we also provide an easier-used graphical library management system, the
users can customize their own graphical library. So this graphical library is the
most advanced graphical library domestically.
Settings of Chinese-English proportion:
We also configure the homologous English fonts and punctuation marks for
your Chinese character library, and the configuration of corresponding English
parameters.
Easier to input the characters:
This system can support the input of mass Chinese characters and input with
typing and typesetting method, you can insert the text files with the postfix of
.txt, and you can also directly connect this software with the others.
Graphics scanning function:
The users can directly scan the graphics in this software with scanner, this
software can automatically generate line drawings.
Vectorizing images:
This system can directly handle the scanned monochrome two-value graphics to
line drawings for the output of plotting machines.
Customized output locations of cutters:
You can complete the large-scale output with small-scale plotting machine. The

If you order the Cutter Master for the first time, please inspect the followings:

Zoom: display the contents on the screen in different scales
Zoom in: double the displayed layout, take the current cursor location as the

 2. The ABC of Cutter Master
If you want to master the ABC of this software in a short time, then please to
directly read this chapter. Here we will introduce the ABC of this software such
as “system installation, how to login in cutter master V6.x, layout, how to input
character, layout of character, output of cutter, etc”.
According to what we prompted, you can operate step by step.

2.1. System installation

2.1.1 The system requirements of cutter master

1. CPU
Processor: 586 or over 586, PII was recommended
Memory: 32M RAM or over
Hard disk: 840M hard disk space or over (the requirements of cutter mater is
600M space after installation)
Display: 14VGA or over, the resolution is best up to over 800*600 (including
800*600)
2. Operation system: Windows95/Windows98 or Windows2000
3. Configuration of recommendation
PII300 64M 10.0G 40X 15”

2. 1.2 Installation of cutter master

Install the SOFTLOCK:
Connect the SOFTLOCK (its appearance is just like a connector) to printer port,
if you have parallel scanner, please connect SOFTLOCK to the back of scanner
first. The basic connecting order is as following:
Scanner-SOFTLOCK-printer (or parallel plotting machine)
If the plotting machine is serial, please directly connect to computers.
(2) Install the software:
1. Switch on the power, log in the Windows95/98
2. Place the CD of cutter master system into the CD driver.
3. Search for the symbol of CD driver in the “My computer” (E.g. D: or E:)
4. Double click the icon of CD, search for SETUP.EXE file in the root directory.

6. Install according to prompted message of system until the message “finished
installation” appeared

a. Here, you must agree to license protocol of software, press YES to
continueCutter Master

b. Set up the path of installation, and press Browse to select a directory. If you
have finished your selection, then you can press Next> button to continue.

c. Select types of installation as following:

1. Typical: install the main program, graphics library, simplified Chinese

character, unsimplified Chinese character
2. Compact: install the main program, graphics library
3. Custom: install the contents under the following selected options
Press [Next] button to continue.

c. Here, you can select the parts that you want to install, press [Next] button to
continue.

d. Here, you can create a name of file document at Windows Starting menu.

Press “Next(N) >” , then the program will start to install automatically.

*Installation of Foreign language (English) character library.

Select the “Control panel” in “My computer”, and select “Font” in the “Control
panel”, and then the system will popup a dialog box:
Select the “Install the new font” in “File” menu, then the system will popup
“add font” dialog box;
Select the driver E: if you want to install in the CD.
Select the directory of font loading in the CD directory such as E: \TTF\ENG.
At this time, the computer will search the font in CD driver.
When finishing to search, the system will select the “select all”.
After press OK, the system will automatically install all foreign character
libraries.

2.2. How to log in Cutter Master V6.x
1. Click to “Start” button in the Windows95/98
2. Move the cursor to “master V6.X”
3. Click the left mouse button, and log in cutter master V6.X.

2.3.Settings of layout
1. You can move the mouse to “Pageset” under “system” menu, click the left
mouse button, the layout setup will be appear (or shortcut key is Ctrl+F10).

We can design the required shown layout as your own requirements, if you need
the length is 60cm, then you can setup the length of 600mm. If you need the
length is 1m, then you can setup its length of 1000mm

2.4 how to input the characters
1. Select the Character option at the Edit menu, (or click T button in toolbox),
the cursor turn to I status.
2. Click the left button of mouse at the position where need to input the
characters, the prompt cursor will flash on layout
3. Select the input methods: you can press the Ctrl key on the keyboard, the
input method can be changed for each pressing of Shift key.
4. We now describe the input method by the Text Block “cutter master”

2.5 character attribute

2.5.1.change all character attributes

Click the right button of mouse, the system will go back to selection status
Select the Text Block of Cutter Master, click the right button in T of toolbox,
select the required character types and character styles and their sizes.

2.5.2.change the attribute of character part

(for example, you can only change the two characters of Cutter)
You can select the Cutter by painting when the cursor is at I status, that is, you
can move the cursor to the front of character of “C”，press the left button of
mouse and drag the cursor to the end of character of “u”, and then release the
left button of mouse.
Click the right button of mouse in T of toolbox, select the required character
types and character styles and their sizes.

2.6 the usage of graphical library

1. Press the icon of the library first.
2. And then press the left button of mouse at the required position of screen
3. Select a graphic and then press OK button (see page ??)

2.7 Operations of graphics
1. Ellipse
Select the specified region of Ellipse option in “Draw” Menu, drag the left
button of mouse and then release it, the ellipse will appear on the layout.
2. Circle
Select Circle option in “Draw” Menu, click the left button of mouse on the
required position of layout, then the system will popup a dialog window,
You can add the x- radial parameter and y-radial parameter, and then press OK
button

3. Rectangle/ square
Select rectangle or square option in “Draw” Menu, drag the left button of mouse
on the required position of layout, then the rectangle or square will appear on
the layout

2.8 Cutters output

1. You can select Cutters Output option in File menu (or click the button of
cutters output)
2. If you first use the Cutter Master system, then you can select the user’s
plotting machine at plotting Machine, and se tup the required port at Port
3. Setup the width and length of instantaneous offset paper at the Material
Width and Material Height.
4. Cutter and output some buttons’ description
5. Test the plotting machine, adjust the knife pressure and velocity etc.
6. Click the Cutter Output button.

 3. Attribute of character and layout
We will introduce the input of characters and graphics and their own attributes,
and the layout knowledge about characters and graphics. It is important for your
using and understanding this software

3.1 Input of characters

We mainly introduce the input methods of characters, and using methods of
every function.
There are two input methods of Cutter Master, one of the input methods is
typing and typesetting method, the other is mass input.

3.1.1 Typing and typesetting method

1. You can select T button on the shortcut icon of Character Input after you
have entered the Cutter Master system, (or select Character option in Edit
menu), the cursor can turn to I status, press the left button of mouse at the
required position, the cursor will flash at the selected position

2. Input the four characters of Cutter Master shown as figure F3-1 on layout,
the font, font size of the four characters is set to default attribute, there is a
red line on the top of Cutter Master, called the base-line for typesetting.

3.1.2 Input the characters by batch processing method
1. Select the button in toolbar, the system will pop up the dialog box of
Text Editor

2. Move the cursor to the input region, press the left button of mouse, the
cursor I will flash in the frame.
3. Select the input methods
4. Input the characters such as the characters of “Cutter Master”
5. After the characters have been input, the cursor turn to I status, blacken the
characters required to be called in the layout, and then press the Ctrl button,
double click the left button of mouse, then the input characters will be
shown on the layout.
Remarks:
You can greatly improve the input speed by batch processing method, so you
can use this method when you have a great deal of characters. Otherwise, we
have provided a standard port of Windows for batch processing method, that is,
you can input the characters in the other software (such as Notepad or Wordpad
of Windows). Blacken the whole page of characters and select copy mode, and
then paste these contents to batch characters editor of Cutter Master. Thus the
whole characters will be called into the Cutter Master system or directly called
to the layout of Cutter Master, or directly called into Cutter Master system by
the File Paste option in File of Cutter Master.

3.2 Attribute of characters

3.2.1 The modification of font type and font size

Ⅰ). The modification of dialog box
For example, the characters of Cutter Master, the attribute is: “EnglishWin
Fonts”, “Times New Romance”, the height of the characters is 50mm, the width
is 50mm
1. There are two cases for modifying the characters’ attribute:
1). Modification of the whole characters block
2). Modification of the part characters block (you can reference the fifth part of
Attribute of Characters in The ABC of Cutter Master)

After select characters block or part of characters, you can select Change Font
Size option (or with the shortcut key Ctrl+F, or click the right button of mouse
in the T of toolbox) in Characters menu. The system will popup a dialog
window, you can setup EnglishWin Font Characters Library, TimesNewRoamce
Font, 15.51mm height, and 15.51mm width as shown above
Ⅱ. The modification of characters attribute bar
After selected the Chinese block or part of characters, you can directly modify
the attribute of each item in the Character Attribute Bar of Windows

Ⅲ). Directly modify the font size

When one of the Text Block is selected, there will appear 8 black control points,
you can drag the control points at the four corners, then you can directly change
the size of the whole characters block
Ⅳ). The using of Absolute font and Absolute Uniform font(only for Chinese
Fonts)
For the different fonts, there will be error between the output characters size and
real input value, if you want to reduce the error, we here provide two styles:
a. Absolute Uniform font size
For coordinating the overall beauty of Chinese, We can draw the longest side
(height or width) to required width, and then the other side can multiply its
drawing proportion, you can only press the button in the toolbar.
b. Absolute font size
Draw the each side of a character to required length, you can use the button in
toolbar.
We don't commend you in real operations, otherwise the beauty of characters
will be affected

3.2.2 The words gap and lines gap

The Cutter Master provides two methods for modifying the words gap and lines
gap. One of the two methods is to modify the word and line gap by blacking
modified characters, this method can modify the word and line gap of all
characters, and also modify the word and line gap of part characters. The other
is the method of selecting of characters block, the word and line gap of selected
characters block can only be adjusted wholly
Ⅰ. Adjust the word and line gap accurately
1. Blacken the characters that need to be modified
The cursor moves to the I status, input the characters of Cutter Master, at this
time we need to change the word gap of “Cutter”. Move the mouse so that the
cursor can be placed on the word 刻 . Press the left button of mouse and drag

cursor to the word “Master”, release the left button of mouse, the two words
of “Cutter” are blackened and selected as shown
When the cursor is on the I status, the users can adjust the word gap with Space
key or Backspace key, and the shortcut key Ctrl+F, the system will pop up a
dialog window, you can directly input values to change the word gap. Here we
setup the word gap as 20 (the unit of word gap is mm), at this time, the system
can automatic select and adjust the corresponding characters

2. Change the words and lines gap by block operations

Let the cursor on Select status, select the characters block that need to be
modified, click the left button of mouse, then select the required characters
block.
Let the cursor on I status, you can use shortcut key Ctrl+F, the system will
popup dialog window, and then you can directly input values to change the
word gap. You can setup the corresponding word gap as your requirements, and
then the selected Text Block will be adjusted as your requirements.
The line gap is just the same as the adjusting method of word gap
Ⅱ. Directly adjust the word gap

The Cutter Master provides the easier method for adjusting the word gap, you
can select one Text Block in Select Status, then there will appear a red base line.
You can only adjust the distance of base line, select Text Block Typesetting, Fill
Line in Typeset menu, and then you can adjust the word gap as shown below:

3.2.3 the rotary and slope of characters
Select the Change Font Size option in Character menu (or use the shortcut key
Ctrl+F), the system will popup a dialog window shown as below, you can setup
the accurate angles of slope or rotary.

Note: (1). The final results of sloping and rotary of characters or Text Block is
different, for the Text Block, the slope and rotary is the whole Text Block.

3.3 Operation of typeset
We will introduce the align operations of characters, layout of characters block,
automatic uniform spacing of character typeset, uniform spacing settings of
Text Block, Punctuation inhibiting mode, up-turn and down-turn etc, you can
typeset your characters much more beautiful by using these functions

3.3.1 Layout of Text Block

1. Forward landscape, backward landscape, forward portrait and backward
portrait.
The operations of the four types are identical, we also take Cutter Master for an
example:
Input the four words of Cutter Master, click the right button of mouse and go
back to select status, select this Text Block.
Choose the forward landscape, backward landscape, forward portrait and
backward portrait in Layout menu. The fault attribute of this system is forward
landscape, click the left button of mouse at the right of pulling-down arrow,
select the required methods, the results are shown as above.

2. Vaulted typeset, arced typeset and typeset along curves

(1). Vaulted typeset
Operational instructions: we also take the Cutter Master as an example:
Input the four words of Cutter Master, click the right button of mouse and go
back to select status, select this Text Block.
Select the Vaulted Typeset in Layout menu, the results are shown in figure F3-
11.
If you want to change the redial of Text Block vertically, you can only click the
red square point at the center of left button of mouse, and then move up or down
until adjust it as you requirements.

Move the cursor to the required object, press the left button of mouse until the
object can move with the cursor by moving the mouse.

Remarks:
If you adopt selection of box dragging, you can select several objects at the
same times, press Shift key until move the cursor to other objects after selected
an object, click the left button of mouse and you can select the second object
continuously. Thus you can select several objects by this method, you can only
move the mouse if you want to move.

3.3.4 Copy of characters and graphics
1. copy of characters and graphics
If you want to copy the characters or graphics, you can operate by the
followings:
First: select the target object, copy first in Edit option of menu (or use the
shortcut key Ctrl+C), and then paste (or use the shortcut key Ctrl+V)
Second: select the target object, press Ctrl button and move the mouse, the
system will automatically copy what you want
Remarks: the replicated objects can be pasted for unlimited times
2. multiple copies

You can adopt the method above if you want to copy an object for one time. If
you want to copy for more than one copy, you can adopt the second method,
that is the Multiple Copies in Edit of menu (or shortcut key F7), the system will
popup the following dialog window shown as figure F3-19:

You can select the horizontal or vertical, the horizontal space and vertical space
between objects and adopting copy of whole page.

3. card copy (this function is used for making of cards)

Firstly, you must setup the paper size (such as A4-210X297)

Typeset the card in card region of the left top corner of the layout shown as the
left figure, press the Edit→card copy or Shift+F7 button in menu, the system

Input various parameters, press the (replicate) button.
Note: the system can automatically calculate the required copies by pressing the
button of Copy Whole Page.

3.3.5 integrated and segregated group

Whether the block is different colors or the same type or not (such as characters
block and graphics block), the Cutter Master can combine these blocks into
groups. You can move or zoom a group of objects with this function and don’t
change the relations between blocks. You can click the integrated group and
segregated group in Layout of menu with mouse or press the corresponding
buttons in toolbox

3.3.6 integrated and segregated contour

(combin/separate glyph) Integrated contour: when you want to integrate several
graphics into one graphic (for easier to operation), press the contour
combination after selected these graphical blocks
Segregated contour: segregate each block of one graphical block into single
graphical block, select one graphical block, and press the contour segregating.

3.3.7 decomposed/ combined the curves

Some operations in Cutter Master can only used for glyph block (such as node
editing).
When you only carry out the operations of glyph block for characters block or
graphical block, you must carry out Combine the Curves after select those Text
Block or graphical block. You can select Combine the Curves option in
Deformation in menu, the Cutter Master system will automatically change the
contents above into glyph blocks
When you select several blocks a time, and carry out decompose the Curves
operations, then you can combine glyph blocks into one block. If you select the
Combine the Curves, then you can combine them as one glyph block after
decompose all blocks into glyph blocks.

3.8 settings of location

3.9. Chinese punctuation and symbols
The Cutter Master provides such a symbol input method because some of the
Chinese platform can’t provide the input of Chinese symbols.
Press the Word button on the right of screen, a dialog box of region-location list
will appear on the screen shown as right figure, there are some adjust buttons on
its top.
In the typing and typesetting status, you can firstly place the cursor at the end of
a word, and double click the left button of mouse on the required punctuation
and symbols, and then you can typeset the required punctuation and symbol in
the location where the cursor is placed.
3.10 horizontal /vertical uniform spacing
This function can automatically adjust the inter-space of several blocks. The
system can calculate the total length of several blocks, and then calculate the
inter-space according to the quantity of blocks
3.11 automatic uniform spacing and punctuation inhibiting
Ⅰ). Automatic uniform spacing
Select the Text Block and then click Automatic Uniform Spacing in Layout, you
can typeset the Text Block, the Cutter Master will automatically align the end of
each line.
Ⅱ). Punctuation inhibiting
The punctuation can’t be placed at the head of lines in special typesetting field
(punctuation inhibiting). You can select the Punctuation Inhibiting in Typeset,
and typeset a Text Block again, the Cutter Master will automatically carry out
the function of Punctuation inhibiting.

3.12 Alignment of line head and cancel the alignment of line head
For the special requirements of typeset, we adopt the method as following:

Blacken the characters that require to be aligned, and select the command
Typeset→Character typeset→Alignment of line head or press the corresponding
button in the character attribute bars.
3.13 Re-typeset of Text Block
Select the required target Text Block, and there are a large black box and a red
base line near the Text Block, you can draw one end of the red base line and
then the Cutter Master will automatically re-typeset.
3.14 Settings of English parameters
(only for Chinese system)For coordinating the output proportion of English and
Chinese, this software can used for setup the English parameters. You can select
English Parameter Setting in Character, then the dialog box will display as the
left figure

The English base line is used for adjust the proportion of English and Chinese
base line, the font size proportion is the ratio of width and height of Chinese and
English.
3.15 the attribute of layout
Ⅰ). Zoom in/out of layout
Zoom in or zoom out the contents on the layout in order to look clearly, the
operational steps are as following:
Method1: select the Zoom in or Zoom out in Zoom option of Typeset, and then
take the mouse’s location as center to zoom the contents (or shortcut key of
zoom in is F2 and shortcut key of zoom out is F3)
Method2: press Shift key, and press the right button of mouse to draw box (the
contents that need to be zoomed in or zoomed out may be in the drawing-box)
And display the contents full screen.
Ⅱ). Full page
We can check the final results what we input on the whole page, its operations is
the same as zoom in and zoom out, the shortcut key is F4
Press Shift and press the right button of mouse, and then the system will display
the contents in full page.
Ⅲ). The whole graphic
This function can display all contents in and out the layout, its operations is the
same as zoom in and zoom out, the shortcut key is F4+A
If you have selected one or several blocks, then you can display it with the
maximum mode
3.16 up/down turn
With this function, you can setup the hierarchy of one block in layout, such as
you can place one block on the other or at the end of other block, and carry out
adjustment for this block
3.17. Other editing operations such as paste
1. Cancel (shortcut key is Ctrl+Z)
Select this function to go back to the last operation. This function can go back
more than ten steps. If you have opened several windows, it can only operate in
the current window.
2. Delete
Delete the selected characters or blocks

of aligning lines will appear on the screen. If you drag it out of layout, then you

4.1 line
It is easier to draw a line. You can select line operation, press the left button of
mouse on the layout and drag. When you select line, you can directly adjust the
line at its ends with the mouse

4.2 rectangle

Method 1: you can directly drag a rectangle with a mouse. If you press Shift
when you drag, then you can drag a square
Method 2: when you have selected rectangle operation, you can select a mouse
at the original point. And then a window will appear shown as the right figure,
you can input accurate values in this window and press OK

When you have selected this rectangle,

you can double click this rectangle
(enter into node editing), then there will
be red squares at the four corners of this
rectangle, you can drag this rectangle to

4.4 polyline/polygon
The polygon is a closed contour, but the polyline is non-closed contour, and
their operation instructions are identical.
Select polyline command, and drag some lines with mouse continuously, press
the right button of mouse and then the work is over.
Note: the polygon will automatically close the contour

4.5 Bezier curve

The operational instructions are identical as above

When you have selected polygon, a window will appear shown as figure below:

The difference of an acute angle polygon and polygon is shown as above, you
can adjust the laterals of ploygon, the width can be adjusted as graphic of

4.7 additional rectangle

When you have selected a block, you can select an additional rectangle
command. A dialog box will appear shown as the right figure. If you select
double line, you can add relative values in horizontal width and vertical width,
thus it can become a double line rectangle. And setup the horizontal spacing and
vertical spacing

4.9 form(TABLE)
The window shown as right will appear after you select the form generating
command.

 5. Deformation processing

5.1 general deformation

Ⅰ. Zoom

Zoom functions are used for zoom in or zoom out the input characters and
graphics according to the ratio.
Select the Zoom in the General Deformation of Deformation, the system will
popup a dialog box of Zoom in or out. The Horizontal and Vertical on layout
represent the height and width of current selected contents. Enter values in
Ratio, zoom out if the value is less than 1 and zoom in if the value is more than
1. When you select geometric proportion, the zoom will carry out horizontally
and vertically at the same ratio.
You can also directly draw the 8 small black squares at the selected block to
carry out zoom processing. The left-top, left-bottom, right-top, right-bottom will
be draw at the same ratio. The top, bottom, left and right are draw along single
direction.

Ⅱ. Rotary

There are two different methods of rotary, you can select the Rotary in General
Deformation of Deformation. The system cans popup a dialog box of Rotary
shown as right figure. Press OK after you entered the accurate values.
You can also place the mouse to Chinese Text Block or graphics status, click the
left button of mouse shown as right figure. Press one of the four corners with the
left button of mouse, The graphic will be rotated. The center blue point is the
control point (can be moved). At this time, you can press Ctrl to copy in rotation

Ⅲ. Slope

The Cutter Master provide two different rotary methods, you can select the
Slope in General Deformation of Deformation. The system cans popup a dialog
box of Slope shown as right figure. Press OK after you entered the accurate
values.
You can also place the mouse in select status to select characters and graphics,
click the left button of mouse shown as figure F4-5. Press one of the four
laterals with the left button of mouse, The graphic will be sloped.

Ⅳ. Mirror
Shift of mirror is used for changing the characters or graphics to the image with
the results that seen from mirror. You can take the horizontal or vertical line or
both the horizontal and vertical line as the mirror base line. The dialog box is
shown as right figure.

5.2 artistic deformation
The Cutter Master has provided the users with plenty of artistic deformation
resource, the users can carry out the artistic deformations for any Text Blocks.
The results is shown as following:

The operation instructions are as following:

1. Firstly you must input the characters or graphics in the layout of Cutter
Master,
2. In the select status, the mouse can select the required characters and graphics
3. A dialog box will be displayed at the Artistic Deformation of Deformation.
4. Select what you want in result names or icons, and then press OK.
5. The detailed adjustment of various deformations can be modified in the node
editing status shown as the following figures. In this case there are two
circles, the outer circle is base circle and can’t be modified, the inner circle is
proportional circle and you can adjust it with the mouse as the mouse is in the
node editing status.

We provide the users with three line cuttings. Cutting is just like that the users
are given a knife to cut the whole Text Block or graphic into several parts, the
cut parts can carry out the operations such as select, color and deformation
shown as the following figure:

The detailed cutting operation is described as following:

1). Select the Text Block Cutter Master, this block must be draw with frame.
2). Select Line Cutting in Cutting of Deformation, the cursor turn to slope line
after the typeset is over.
3). Move the cursor to Typeset menu to select segregated group shown as above
figure
4). Select the cut Text Block with cursor, you will find that the character has
been divided into two parts, select the top half of the Text Block to color shown
as the following figure.

This function is that you can cut the other contour with a specified contour.
Firstly, you must select two glyph blocks, and then carry out the command of

When the angle of turning is very small, the following change will be appear

The length of l will be lengthened with the decreasing of α, you must adjust the
processing method of turnings for avoiding this case.
Rounded turnings:

turning has been less than Turning Threshold during
thickening and thinning shown as the right figures.

 6. Graphical library

6.1 Operation of graphical library

The Cutter Master system provided the users with more than ten thousand easy-
to-use graphical libraries such as trademarks, computers, clothing, sports,
identifiers, traffics, transportation and banking etc.
Move the cursor to Graphical Library of toolbar (shortcut icon), or select
Graphical Library in File menu, press the left button of mouse on the screen,
then the Dialog of graphical library will appear shown as the following figure:

1. The graphical library of Cutter Master V6.x includes five types such as
foreign graphical library, foreign characters library, system graphical library
1, system graphical library 2, system graphical library 3, and Chinese
traditional patterns. Move the cursor to the name of graphical library, click
the left button of mouse, the system will display the types of library. You can
select one of the five types of library.
2. Move the cursor to left and right arrows at the right side of Number item,
click the left button of mouse to select the numbers of graphics (see
graphical library manual), the selected graphic is displayed in black.
3. Move the cursor to required graphic and click the left button of mouse, move
the mouse to layout region, and then click the mouse at the location of
designing of layout, the required contents will be displayed in layout region
shown as the following figure
4. The size of graphical library can be customized. Click any black spot with
mouse to change the size of library after you have selected the library.

6.2 Management of graphical library

The users can save their customized graphics into the library of Cutter Master
with the management of graphical library. The users can use these graphics at
any time.

Ⅰ. Setup of graphical library

Click the left button of mouse in Management of Graphical Library of Search
menu, the system will popup the following dialog window shown as the below:

Input the saved filename (*.LIB) in New item, and press the new button. Then
there is a New Library on the left side. Select the New Library and click it with
mouse, there will be a frame by the New Library, thus you can modify the name
of graphical library.

Ⅱ. Create a new type of graphical library

Press the New Type button after selected the library (such as New Library), you
can append a new library type in the New Library. The modified name of type is
shown as above.

Ⅲ. Append of graphics
1. Append graphics from the other libraries
Select a graphical type at the left, and select other graphics from the right
window, double click this graphic. And then this graphical library can be
appended to the left types.
2. Append the new graphic
Press the graphical library button, and select required library and type in the
library toolbar, press the button, thus the graphic in the working window can be
appended.r

 7. Editing of node
We will introduce how to edit with the node. Every graphic, character and
vectored contour is composed by lots of nodes, so the users can obtain great
benefit if they can grasp the tool of node editing.

7.1 logging in the editing of node

If we want to carry out the node editing for a character or graphical unit, we
must select this Text Block or graphical unit and then select Change to Curve on
Deformation. At last click the node-edit item in shortcut key with left button of
mouse (shortcut icon) or double click left button of mouse in graphical block,
the screen will display the node-editing status shown as figure F6-1.

Some users usually make the following two mistakes:

1). If you haven’t selected this graphic or character, you can’t carry out the
graphical editing by selecting Node-Editing at this time. So we emphasis that
you must firstly select this graphic or Text Block before you enter the node-
editing status.
2). You must change this graphic or Text Block into glyph block, thus you can
carry out the node-edit for the graphics or Text Block.

7.2 Introduction of toolbar
The user can see the toolbar of node-edit, this toolbar includes
various functions such as increasing of node, decreasing of node,
breaking of node, connecting of node etc, these functions is
shown as following:

Node-edit selection status: used for selecting one point or

Appending of node: append a node on a line

Deleting of node: delete the selected node

7.3 Operational instructions of toolbar
1.The selecting of node
Click the node in select status and then this node can be selected. And you can
also draw frame in the select status of node, thus several nodes can be selected
altogether in the frame.

2.The moving of node
The Cutter Master V6.x can adopt relative
simply method, you can only click one or more
selected nodes in node-edit status with mouse
and then move to the required location and

If two nodes of one line have been moved, then
the location of this line have been moved.

3. Appending of node
Double click the left button of mouse at the line required to append nodes, or
select one node on line, then you can append a node according to the node-edit
toolbar.
4. Decreasing of node
Select one or several nodes, press the button in toolbox, and then delete all
selected nodes.
Press Ctrl button and frame or click a node with the right button of mouse, and
then this node can be deleted
Otherwise, if you append two nodes on a line, you append a new line. At the
same time, if you delete two nodes on a line, you reduce this line
5. change the line into curve and change the curve into line (shortcut key is
space button)
The users usually meet these cases, that is, you need to change a line into curve
or change the line into curve. Firstly you must select one point on line or curve,
and then press Space button or the button in toolbox, thus the line can be
changed.

6. replacement of circle and square (shortcut key is C or F button)

Press the button in toolbox after selected a node in a contour and then a contour
can be replaced by a circle or a square
7. deleting of contour (shortcut key is D button)
Press the button or D button in toolbox after selected a node in a contour and
then a contour can be deleted.
8. replacing of arc
Press the button or H button in toolbox after selected one or several continuous
nodes in a contour (shown as figure below) and select two control points with
mouse and then these selected nodes can be replaced by curve

 8. Selecting of colors and using of pallette
The Cutter Master V6.x is color version, we will introduce how to color a Text
Block or graphical block and how to setup background colors.

8.1 Selecting of colors

1. coloring with fixed colors

Select the required color from pallette after you have selected one block or
several characters, then the selected contents can be changed.

2. expand the color coloring and appending of colors

Press button, the system will popup a dialog box.
Press OK button after selected required color, then this color can be
adopted
If you press Append to Customized Colors (A) button and OK button
after selected the colors, then the selected colors can be appended to the
current pallette.

8.2 Setting of background

The detailed operational instructions are as following:
1. Press Layout Setting option in System Setting (or shortcut key F10), The
dialog window will appear shown as following figure

2. Select the required colors in the background colors of window, and then
press OK button. (If the background need to be setup, you can setup size
and the color of background grids by the size of background grids). There
aren’t background grids if the size value is zero or less than zero.

 9. Scanning of images and sketching of
curves

9.1 Scanning of images

This function is used for inputting your required identifiers into Cutter Master
by scanner. And then output by plotting machine, the operational instructions is
as following:
1). Install the drive of scanner, and connect the scanner
2). Select the Scan in Image of File menu, then the window will be displayed as
figure F8-1:

3). Select the required scanner in Selecting of Scanners

4). Press Start to Scan to scan the images.
Remarks:
There are different scanning programs in different scanners, we can list in this
software, please see the operation manual of your scanner.
Only white and black graphic can be processed by Cutter Master software,
please select the monochrome values or Line Art mode for scanning
The selection of resolution of scanner depends on the size of scanned images,
normally, the scanned size must less than about 1M (1024K)
(5). Press Confirm and Exit button after the scanning is over, the Cutter Master
can automatically vectorize the images, and save the vectorized images into the
layout of Cutter Master

9.2 Reading of images
This function can call the other files saved and scanned by other software into
the Cutter Master system.
The detailed operation instructions are as following:
1). Select the Reading images command in Image of File menu, then the
following window will appear.
(2). Select the path of file
3). Enter your required files in filename, and then press Open button.

9.3 Sketching of images

This function can change the images into vectorized images
The detailed operational instructions is as following:
1). Select the required graphic blocks
2). Select the Sketching of Images in Image of File menu, the system will popup
a dialog window shown as following:

Note: we call the 512 box as grayscale that will be used in the sketching of
screen images.
3). You can select the commands in the window, and then carry out
vectorization processing shown as left figure.
4). The processing time will be different according to the
size of images, the results will be shown as following after
processed.
5). If you want to distinguish the results with the original
graphic, you can only zoom in what you want to see. If
you want to process the vectorized images, you can only
move and delete the original images.

9.4 Sketching of screen images
This function is useful for the modification and sketching of images. The
modification and sketching of images in the other graphics processing software
(such as Photoshop, PhotoStyler, ImagePal etc) is that you must firstly scan the
graphics and then saved (the graphics can be displayed fully on the screen). For
the Cutter Master system, you can select Sketching of Screen Images in Scan of
File menu, the screen will automatically upturn the graphics processing
software. You can draw a frame to frame what you want to sketch with the
mouse. The Cutter Master will automatically sketch the framed images and save
them into the layout of Cutter Master.
Note: if the image is a color or monochrome graphic, you can adjust one item of
grayscale in Images Vectorization window to determine the points, the value
range is 1-768, the less the values, the more the points.

9.5 Vectorizing bar (grayscale vectorization)

This function is used for the bar processing of grayscale images, the used
images must be 256 grayscale.
After readout the images, you must select the image, click
File→Image→grayscale vectorization in menu. Then the following window will
be popup:

We will automatically calculate the total bars according to the height of images
and the height of each bar. The commended height of each bar is about 5mm,
and the error of fitting is 1-5. Press the Bar Processing button, the grayscale
vectorization will be carry out automatically.

 10. Output

10.1 Output of cutters

The output functions of Cutter Master V6.x consist of preview, full color or
specified color output, multiple output, large-scale paging output etc, with these
easy-to-use functions, the users can output of cutters much easier.
Move the cursor to shortcut key of Output of Cutters, or select Output of Cutters
option in File menu, click the left button of mouse, the system will popup a
dialog box shown as the following figure

Descriptions of icons:
Select: the mouse is at the status of selection
Settings of output region: select the output contents on the layout
Clear all settings in the output region: clear all settings in the output
region on the layout
Setup the output region: move the settings of the output region, and
select the output contents and then output.
Setup the unable output region: don’t output the settings of an output
region

Output of cutters: click the Output of Cutters after selected the output
region, the system will popup a dialog window.

Ⅰ. Settings of output
The users must setup the output devices when they log in this dialog for the first
time, and also they must check the output devices before output, the output
devices consist of:

(1). Devices: the users can select the devices according to the type of plotting
machine, if there aren’t options in the pulling-down menu of plotting machine,
you must contact with dealer, or determine the languages accepted by plotting
machine are HPGL or DMPL, and then select the corresponding output options
2). Ports:
The settings of ports is very important, the plotting machine will be out of work
if the settings of ports aren’t correct. There are normally three ports such as
COM1, COM2 and LPT1, after all, you must ensure that your plotting machine
has been connected with the signal line of computers, and then determine your
ports. If you can’t determine, you can test them orderly.
There is File item in ports, it can be used to output the data for plotting machine
to a file. If you select this item, the system will prompt you entering the
filename as output
3). The width and height of instantaneous offset papers: consist of 45CM,
60CM, 90CM and 120CM. The real width usually less about 2-3CM for
retaining the roller’s width of plotting machine.
4). Velocity: you can setup the cutting velocity of plotting machine in software,
but some of the plotting machine can’t support the settings of velocity.
5). Cutter’s pressure: you can setup the pressure in software, but some of the
plotting machine can’t support the settings of velocity.

6). Test: this button is mainly used for adjusting pressure, when you have setup
the pressure, a square will be output to plotting machine after you selected this

button. You can check the pressure and adjust as requirements.
7). Reset: a reset command will be send to plotting machine then the plotting
machine can reset to original status when you press this button
8). Output: when you press this button, the plotting machine start to cutting.

Ⅱ. plotting options:
1. save paper method
If this method has been selected, the plotting machine will automatically setup
the output from initial point. That is, if the Text Block is at the middle of layout,
but it must be plotted from the initial point for saving the offset paper.
2. output of specified color
If the full colors have been selected (there is a √ before the Full Color option),
all contents can be one-off output without the limiting of colors.
If you haven’t selected the full color, you can select the color in Output of
Colors, and then the plotting machine will output the corresponding colors after
you have selected Cutter option. If there isn’t this color, the plotting machine
will not output
3. Automatic paper feed
4. Character line: each character can be framed
5. Framed layout: the output layout can be framed.
6. Sorting: sort what you want to output
7. Off-line cutting: with the off-line cutting, the users can do the other works
after the plotting machine has started to work. At this time, the plotting
machine hasn’t occupied the computers. With this function, the users can
obtain high efficiency. The detailed description see the off-line cutting
8. Using of half-cutting
It likes the margin of stamps, a kind of cutting method that can made the
margin with virtual real mode. It mainly used for half a paper
9. Accuracy: the accuracy value is 1.0-9.0, less the value, the higher the

10. Zoom: the machine can output according to the zoom in or zoom out, the
value 1 represent the original size, 0.5 is 1/2 of original size, 2 is double size.
11. Paper feeding: when cutting is over, a little more paper need to be feed for
cutting
12. Mirror: the whole contents will be mirrored horizontally.
13. Rotary: the whole contents will be rotated in 90°

Ⅲ. Output parameters:
Drawing mode/compensation
There aren’t hardware compensation in home-made plotting machine, and adopt
compensation by software, the compensation value is setup in Compensation,
when you use the drawing pen, please select the drawing mode
Closing:
For some reasons, some plotting machine can’t close the initial and end point of
contour, thus we must adjust this value about 100.

Cascade of page: settings of interval between papers, the unit is mm
Pause: when you select off-line cutting, the output is not only one page. If you
select this item, the output will pause at interval and wait for command
Ratio adjustment: adjust the horizontal or vertical output ratio of plotting
machine according to requirements

Ⅳ. Settings of ports
This is the communication method between computers and output devices, these
settings can’t be changed except professors. You can press Recall Data to recall
the original value.

10.2 Off-line output /multiple output

The plotting machine will not occupy the computers if you adopt Off-line output
/multiple output, at the same time, you also can carry out the interval copy for
the same plotting contents
1. operational instructions:
Select Off-line Cutting in Cutter option(CTM)
Click the output button, the system will popup a dialog box shown

This item is used for cutting start without pause, automatically cut the whole
data
Start to cut, and pause after a work is over

 11 Frequently Asked Questions

Ⅰ. You can’t log in the Cutter Master system

There are three conditions:
1). The system files have been damaged, you must reload the Cutter Master
system with system disk
2). Whether you have opened the cutter system, you can check by press
Alt+Tab button to switch interface
3). If there are error messages after start the Cutter Master, you can try to delete
some characters libraries of Windows. The Cutter Master will automatically
check the font resource of Windows, this condition will occur if there are
problems in characters library.

Ⅱ. Output of print or cutter is of no effect

1). Check whether you have installed SOFTLOCK, see page 15 for details
2). The SOFTLOCK has been damaged, please contact with your dealer or
BeiJing JiaYeCheng Technology and Trade Co.Ltd
3). The ports of computer have been damaged

Ⅲ. How to define and cut the required size of characters

You can see page 23 for the using of Absolute font and Absolute uniform font

Ⅳ.Notifications of image vectorization

1). The scanner can be common type, you can adopt scanning software provided
by scanner
2). The format for curve processing of image consist of monochrome value
graphic, BMP or TIF, the size of image can’t too much large.

Ⅴ. Why the plotting machine start to output after it has plotted a

line
There is cutting command without cancelled because exit abnormally last time,
thus the cutter will cut a line before the next movement
You can turn off and turn on again the plotting machine, and then carry out the
output of cutters

Ⅵ. The plotting machine can’t output

1). The connections between computers and plotting machine aren’t correct.
2). There are error connection between computers and plotting machine
3). The settings of ports aren’t correct

Ⅶ. What we should pay attention to on cutting the small

characters
You must decrease the velocity of plotting machine, because the viscosity and
flatness of offset papers are less than requirements. If the velocity of knife is too
fast, the sharp will stick some strokes to generate inferior products

Ⅷ. What we should pay attention to on cutting the large

characters
The system can automatically divide pages so that you can combine several
pages to form a large character, but you must notice that the setting of width
must be confirm with offset paper. Otherwise, the velocity of cutting must be
slow, because velocity of some of the plotting machine is too fast when it moves
along lines, thus the plotting machine can’t work correctly.

Ⅸ. What can we do if the instantaneous offset paper can’t be

taken off
You should check the pressure before output, and adjust the pressure to meet the
requirements
Check that the plotting knife’ s service life, you can change as requirements

Ⅹ. How to use the Chinese input methods

The users can switch the input methods by pressing Ctrl+Shift: press Ctrl button,
and then click Shift button to change the input methods
There will be replicative codes in some of the input methods, click the + button
on keyboard to turn down, and click the - button to turn up

Ⅺ. Appending of new font

Select Control Panel in My Computer, and then select Font in Control Panel, the
system will popup a dialog box
Select Install New Font in File menu, the system will popup a dialog box of
Append New Font
Select driver, if you install from disk, you can select driver E:
Select load directory of font in the directory of disk, such as E:\TTF\ENG
At this time, the computer will check the font in disk automatically
Select “Select All” after the check of font
Press OK, the system will install all fonts automatically

Ⅻ. How to install printer

Select Printer in My Computer.
Double click Append printer button, the system will popup Append Printer
dialog box automatically, and select Next according to the messages

Select appending the local printer or network printer, click Next.

Select the required printer in printer list, you can select Install from Disk if there
are printer driver disk
Select the corresponding disk and installation program and go on the next step
The system will prompt the required ports for printer, usually you can select
LPT1
Setup the printer as fault printer
At this time turn on the printer, and select Recommend printing test page on the
operational interface
Click Complete button, the system finish the installation of printer

ⅩⅢ. How to install scanner

You can start the installation program of scanner in Windows, usually the
installation program is SETUP.EXE or INSTALL.EXE.
You can install the scanner correctly according to the messages of system, you
must also complete the following steps after the scanner has been installed (only
for the first installation)
Select Source in File menu
Select “select” in Source
Select Easy Twain Module in Select and press OK
If there are unsolvable problems during installation, you can contact with the
manufacturer of scanner.
