SHORT HISTORY OF THE PARISH

August 15, 1983, the first Mass was held at the Subdivision’s Clubhouse. In November 1984, the idea of
building a chapel was conceived. Fund raising activities followed. In 1986, the homeowners decided that the
Chapel will be named Christ the King. Cardinal Sin came for the groundbreaking ceremonies for the
construction of the Chapel on the Feast of Christ the King, November 1987. By mid-1989, construction was in
full swing.

On April 29, 1991, Cardinal Sin assisted Bishop Buhain, presided over the canonical erection of the parish
community, the solemn consecration of the parish church, and the installation of the first parish priest Fr. Gerry
Tapiador. The La Salette Missionaries took over in 1994 with Fr. Francisco Maliwat, MS, in 1997 with Fr.
Antonio Abuan, MS, in 2000 with Fr. Stevan Munar, MS, and in 2004 with Fr. Andreas Sudarsono, MS. On
August 9, 2007, a Diocesan priest, Rev. Fr. Mario S. Sanchez, took over and after 6 yrs., our beloved Fr.
Nonnette C. Legaspi is the current Parish Priest of Christ the King.
