Students are REQUIRED to attend class. You must notify your instructor of any anticipated
absences or via email or Remind. Each individual student is responsible for finding out what they
missed in terms of material covered. I understand that things come up, people get sick or wake up
late. You have two absences without repercussions. If you miss more than two classes, points
will be deducted from your final grade. The attendance policy is designed to instill a sense of
commitment to your course of studies and professional responsibility. Please communicate with
me if you are unable to attend class. The same applies for tardiness. You will be expected to
communicate if you will be tardy prior to class. Being tardy will result in points being deducted
from your final grade. Attendance is a part of your “participation” grade.

Progress Reports:
Progress reports will be due twice a semester. Due dates will be posted in Canvas and
communicated in class.
Completed progress reports will include the following:
• Report from ALL SCF classes
o If you are taking an online class or experience difficulty in obtaining a report from
an instructor, please let me know prior to the due date.
o You may print the screenshot of your “dashboard” in Canvas if your professors use
Canvas to maintain grades.
o You must have your professor report the grade on the progress report form if they
do not use Canvas.

Progress report forms (lavender / purple) are located at the front reception area of SCFCS.
Completed progress report forms are expected to be turned in to Mrs. Frank in the Student Services
office by the posted due date. You will receive a “0” for the grade if turned in late. Progress reports
are a part of your “assignments” grade.

Reflection Journals:
Our Accelerated College Program model encourages students to become reflective learners. It’s
important that Students submit reflection journals. These entries should be a maximum of 150
words. Reflection journals can include any of the following topics: goal-setting, reflections from
seminar workshops, things you have learned about yourself, how you need to prepare yourself for
upcoming projects and assignments, how you can perform better as a student and professional,
anything you’re struggling with or may need help, etc. There will be the opportunity to submit a
reflection journal for each week of the semester. You will be required to submit at least five
reflection journals throughout the semester. Reflection Journals are a part of your “participation”
grade. Due Dates are listed in Canvas.

Employability Points:
You will be given 50 points at the start of each semester. You will lose points for unprofessional
behavior. Examples of unprofessional behavior include but are not limited to being tardy to class,
disrespectful behavior, excessive talking in class, etc. You have the ability to have points added to
your employability grade by exhibiting professional and collegiate behavior. Your Employability
points are a part of the “assignments” grade.

Professionalism:
We will further discuss this topic throughout seminar. This is the most important area of growth
that you will need to work on as a younger student attending full-time college.
How we can be professional
1. Arriving to class on time. Please communicate with me if this will be an issue.
2. Putting away electronic devices unless authorized by teacher to use them for classroom
purposes.
3. Giving the instructor or speaker your undivided attention. This includes not working on
other assignments or talking to others.
4. Professional communication via email, phone, and even text messages.
***Assignment Deadline Policy***
All written assignments will be submitted electronically through the Canvas interface on the given
due dates. ASSIGNMENTS SUBMITTED AFTER THE DUE DATE WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED. LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL RECEIVE A “0”. ONLY IN EXTENUATING
CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ASSIGNMENTS BE ACCEPTED AT THE SOLE DISCRETION
OF THE INSTRUCTOR. Again, the purpose of this course is to help you establish yourselves as
students and future professionals. In both academic and professional settings, you will be required
to meet specific deadlines. I expect you to plan accordingly to submit your work before the due
date. If you have difficulties navigating Canvas or difficulty accessing an assignment, please let
me know as soon as possible.

Communication: The best way to contact me is through the use of email or through Remind. I do
not check e-mail or Remind outside of work hours. In most cases, you will be provided with a
response within 24 hours during the week and within 72 hours during the weekend. Please use
your SCF student email to contact me.

Statement of Plagiarism: Plagiarism is the use of ideas, facts, opinions, illustrative material, data,
direct or indirect wording of another scholar and/or writer—professional or student—without
giving proper credit. Expulsion, suspension, or any lesser penalty may be imposed for plagiarism.
