About Veeam Agent for IBM AIX

Veeam Agent for IBM AIX is a data protection and disaster recovery solution for machines
running IBM AIX operating systems.
The product offers a variety of features to protect your data. You can create an entire system
image backup, back up specific directories with files or individual WPARs. Backups can be
stored in an NFS directory mounted to the file system of your machine.
In case of a disaster, you can perform the following data restore operations:
 Boot your machine from the recovery image and use the Veeam Recovery Environment to
perform bare-metal restore.
 Restore necessary files and directories.
 Restore individual WPARs.

Solution Architecture
Veeam Agent for IBM AIX is set up on a machine whose data you want to protect. When you
install the product, Veeam Agent for IBM AIX deploys the following components:
 mkdrcd — a command-line utility that Veeam Agent for IBM AIX uses to create the
recovery image. The recovery image lets you boot your machine and use the Veeam
Recovery Environment to restore data from a backup.
 veeamcfg — a command-line utility that Veeam Agent for IBM AIX uses to read the
machine configuration and save it to a configuration file. Veeam Agent for IBM AIX uses
the saved configuration to recover a machine with the Veeam Recovery Environment.
 ubax — a command-line utility that Veeam Agent for IBM AIX uses to back up data and
restore data from a backup.
 gubax — utility that provides a curses graphical user interface for the ubax utility.
 veeam — utility that provides a curses graphical user interface (Veeam Backup Console)
for the mkdrcd and veeamcfg utilities. Veeam Agent for IBM AIX also uses the Veeam
Backup Console to start the gubax utility.
 disrec — utility that Veeam Agent for IBM AIX uses by perform bare-metal restore with
the Veeam Recovery Environment.
